It works for several other manufacturers, and as I recall, 21st was playing around with the idea before with some limited issue collector's pieces (Corsairs, for one) that I don't ever recall seeing make the open market. And in many cases, the same general tooling could be used for both versions. Change out or add some additional detail pieces (for example a simple molded wheel well on the discount version vs. a detailed multi-piece wheel well with separate hydraulic lines and mechanical details on the collector's version). Obviously there are multiple "price-points" in the market--how else can you have FOV selling a die-cast P-51 for $30, Corgi selling one for $90, and GMP for $150?chunks wrote:Hey, just had a thought. Sorry, but I'm sure it'll be worth 'bout what all my thoughts are worth. Even so, you are now subjected to it.
With the recent change in detail level, etc, is 21c diversifying? Will there now be a Wally World Grade and a Collectors Grade?
Yeah, for example, like here. And we are still comparatively warm compared to places like the Dakotas! At least we only got a couple inches of lake effect today--but I feel for those poor saps about 15 miles farther north and eastaferguson wrote: (btw...it's not really that cold here right now....around the freezing mark...and no snow. Much colder and snowier in many parts of the US).
FieroDude wrote:It's a common enough concept--I have 1/18 and 1/43 die-cast Ferrari models from the early '90's that range form 1- or 2-piece molded engines (some nothing more than a shaped piece on a flat backing panel) to detailed right down to separate plug wires, hoses, belts, etc. Same with interiors, suspension, etc. The difference is whether the model cost $15 and was made by the truck load, or $100 or more and was limited to a production run of a few hundred or a couple thousand at most.
For you hardcore collectors out there (self included), wouldn't you pay a significant premium for more detailed plane or armored vehicle, especially if is one of a limited production run, possibly with a numbered certificate or such?
Speaking of which, who do we need to hit up to produce lexan display cases up to let's say 30x30x10 inches, maybe with customizable inserts for tarmac, dirt, whatever?
It was a balmy 65 degrees here in central California, and its even warmer in So Cal. The best weather in the country is always in the Golden StateMightyMustang wrote:Crap here in Minnesota its a COLD 5 degrees, the high only got to 20 today and with the wind it felt worse.
I live in Watertown and your due east from us, its supposed to warm up a bit maybe 40’s so I will send some your way.MightyMustang wrote:Crap here in Minnesota its a COLD 5 degrees, the high only got to 20 today and with the wind it felt worse.

We won't even talk about it--I have a die-cast 1/8 scale Ferrari Testarossa and 1/8 F-40, both from Pocher Rivarossi... About $300 each, about 6 months each to build, and about 2 feet long and 25+ pounds each. And now, there are all kinds of custom metal "upgrades" on evil bay... so tempting. I wanted to get the 1/8 F-50 from Pocher, but never found it in the US at reasonable price. So all I have is a variety of 1/18 versions... Nice car, though!!!VMF115 wrote: As for limited editions I bought a 1/12 Ferrari F50 - Red Version Semi-Assembled a great looking car. Spent a small fortune from a Hong Kong dealer to get itbut its worth it.
Crap that’s what I spent on evilbay for my F50 that’s including shipping.FieroDude wrote:We won't even talk about it--I have a die-cast 1/8 scale Ferrari Testarossa and 1/8 F-40, both from Pocher Rivarossi...
