The advantage that 1/18 has that 1/72 does not have (at least not at this time), and what attracted me to the scale to begin with, is moving parts and figures that can be posed (ie., landing gear, flaps, pilots, etc, etc). Even opera glasses can't fix that.

what hooked me on 1/18th was i had been following the finding and restoring of P-38 Glacier Girl in the airplane mags and then seeing 21st P-38 at TRW.it was so detailed & you can't find a better deal anywhere in any scale then 1/18. after that had to have all of them

back to his room problem.
like someone said, rotate display.
and if you don't have that nice 21st stand. you could do what i do when i go to model shows.
get a cardboard box just a little taller then tail of plane, cut slots for wings & tail to stick out, put foam on box where wings and tail set. i use foam tubing that is for wrapping water pipes under houses, from walmart hardware dept.you can stack about ten planes in closet. P-38 would fit in American car 12 pack oilfilter box that can be had at any auto parts store for free
hope this helps

Room problem? I thought this whole time the problem was the lack of product - and the sweet abundance in 1/72. At least that's what I thought....and with what I totally agree.

Out-of-the-box thinking is more like choosing Taco Bell instead of Burger King.

This is different.
