So, I was at Target the other day, and I was looking through the FOV 1:72 scale aircraft. Mostly the series one paris of Corsairs and Hurricanes, all which I had. But one caught my eye, a new looking Hurricane. Aside from the fact that the box was slightly torn (which was weird) and seemed to look different than most boxes, the Hurricane was in a light almost desert looking colors with the bottom having a black and white side much like the XD Spitfire ZPA. The top side of this Hurricane looks much like the colors of the XD RAF P-40, with just a J in white letters and a serial of PZ865 on the fuselage. But the biggest thing I noticed, it's HEAVILY weathered. Like really really weathered, none of the other 1:72 aircraft are weathered at all. This one has weathering from the props to the engine to the antenna.
I checked the FOV website, and they don't have this one listed at all, nor any hints to highly weathered 1:72 series... especially when the series 2 aircraft pairs haven't even shown up around here.
I just opened it a few hours ago, and once I pulled it out I went in and grabbed the instruction manual... and it was for the Corsair! Not only that, but the tag on the window says 'France 1940', which is the darker green colored Hurricane pictured at the top of the row on the backside. This only made me even more puzzled as maybe this was not supposed to be found in stores?
Anyone have an idea what this is? A new series?
