How to Decal?
Ok. I admit it. I am more of a premade model type of guy. I never really put a model car or plane together. About all I have done is put the wings on a 1/18 Me 262. I want to put some correct markings on the tail of the Me 262, and eventually others on other things.
All I know is to cut the decal out.
As you can tell I need a bit of help. It will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Well, since I like my stuff straight out of the box, too, I'll tell ya- let your decal sit in the water for 30-40 secs, when loose, apply to tail- pat down with soft cloth, etc. to remove excess water, air bubbles whatever..if you don't have any decal set, then let it lay and be satisfied.

For better setting I use MR. MARK SOFTER and MR. MARK SETTER. This things really help to give the decals the look of brushed signs.
I print all my decals by my self and work with that things for longer time now. Absolutely satisfied with it.

I want these decals to last as long as the model lasts. Crazy Kraut suggested the Mr Marks. Any other products like this that I should be looking at?
If it helps any, these were the decals included in my Me262 purchase-

You might want to try Micro Set... http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/mer ... ct_Count=1
It's a good product... helps keep the decals on the model.

This is the process I use for models, I am assuming it would work for 1:18 stuff also. Get a glossy surface, I airbrush Future floor polish and let it dry. I lay down a coating of micro-set while the decal is soaking in warm water. I then set down the decal and when I get it situated I use a paper towel to dab up any excess moisture. After about 45 minutes I coat the decal with micro-sol and repeat until the decal has blended with the surface very well, don't mess with it after you apply the micro-sol until it has dried or your decal may disintegrate. The next day I coat the area again with Future to seal everything down and protect the decal. The following day I coat the area with Testors Modelmaster clear flat lacquer. Done.

Hallo flyboy_fx,
Hope it is no problem for you to translate my german.
It seems you are a funny guy. But fun expense of others isn´t the kind of fun I like.
Well maybe I need to apologize for my bad bad english. But I´ve tried to give fast and useable information to Ferrari250GTO. And here (in Germany) it was late and maybe I was a little bit tired.
But I will suggest a little game in which you can show your brilliant linguistics skills.
Write a describition of some of your work in German (maybe a desribition of your Panther, which is very nice). And I will control it and try to tell you in English how many failures are in your describition.
What do you think Mr. Professor????
My signature is a little rhyme which is written in a book about the JG 300 (ISBN NR: 3-923457-58-8 ). Go get one they´re brilliant.
And my version is signed from Hajo Herrmann and others
Well, I´m out for the long weekend because of a Fligh In of warbirds near my hometown (the meeting is called HAHNWEIDE) and I don´t want to miss SPITFIRE, HURRICANE, ME109, FW190, Me163 and Co.
But after the weekend we can start the translation game.
It´s up to you!!!
Hope my english was not so bad this time.

Hi,
I´ve got some old WWI books and some old fairy-tale books written in that old font. And most of it I can read. It depends if it is written by hand or machine.
If you are able to send scans I would try to translate.
PEACE!!!

Of course I would try to take as many photos as possible.
2 digital cameras and one old style camera with lens should help to get some useable pics.
Hopefully the weather is going to get a little bit better. I´m really hot at the B17 (pink lady) and the Fw190A.
More next week.
regards

Back from the HAHNWEIDE.
One word: AMAZING
To see the B17 together with Spitfire, Warhawk, Me109 and Fw190 flying was great.
And the Avenger, Mitchell, Skyraider, Mustang, Hurricane, Morane, Seafury, Rata, Ju 52´s, and all the others were great too.
And for the Happy End the
The Me163 got no rocket it is a glider version only. But you can see it in the air and thats the important thing.
Photos asap. Got so many , first need to check them all. If you google for HAHNWEIDE 2009 I´m sure you would find some pics. Good site with nice pics: http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/mypics/948597
For translation of the old german writings send me scans with PM.
Regards
