Cool! 21st is coming out with a 1/32nd D model Mustang. I'm very impressed by 21st's B/C Mustangs in 1/32nd and you know something? I may switch to 1/32nd only. 21st is very impressive in this area.

This is what Area 21 says Sabrefan:

All future D model Mustang releases in the Extreme Wings line will be based on this new tooling, and the original Mustang tooling that started it all will be retired. Production is completed, so the first schemes should start hitting the shelves in the next month or two.

I agree that the original D model is by far the worst 1/32 mold, but part of me wishes they would have gone with a different plane given the recent B/C version. I am dying for a P-38. That being said I will probably end up with four or five of these. One nice thing about the shown scheme is that we need more Brits in the skies. So until we see the Typhoon and Spitfire release, this will do just fine.

MightyMustang, welcome to the club. I have recently been delving into XD aircraft but these smaller planes are really where my heart lies. Walk towards the light...

Wow! Glad to see 21c revisit this plane! We sorely need a decent and affordable P-51D in 1:32, given the state of both the original 32x and FOV planes. I don't mind that first scheme and hopefully these will show up before too long! The 32x P-51B/C has been one of my favorite 32x planes to date and its scary to think I might be soon picking up a bunch more P-51s

BTW, where's the new FW-190A?

This is very cool news, mostly because it signals a willingness to revisit the really crappy stuff from the past. Can we have a retool of the Sherman? 262? PZIII?

I have to agree with Olifant. I will enjoy a new version of the Mustang, but would much ,much, much rather have had a P-38 or any one of a number of other as yet unproduced aircraft.

   Nice!!! I was hoping for a new tool P-51D and this one looks awesome! The P-51B/C models were the best yet. The Brit shark mouth scheme is super!

Now lets see a retooled P-47 or a P-38 or Mosquito, Spitfire, P-40E, etc etc!

I'm happy for this because while I like my B/C model, I really really like the D model (and it's such an iconic plane that it was necessary to retool it so they could sell a ton of repaints). Too bad the landing gear doors have the same shortness as on the B/C models, and hopefully this one will have the radio mast. I also want teardrop tanks. Why am I complaining so much? I like this. I'll wait for a bare metal paint scheme though...

I think you guys will get your cake and eat it too when it comes to new molds in 32x. The line is super popular with you folks! The P-51D REALLY REALLY needed to be fixed. It is such a loved airplane. 21C simply could not ignore the need to make that plane better.

Its not like 21st is going to go back and retool the entire 32x line. I happen to know for a fact that all new planes are waiting in the wings (pun intended). More to come in 08 for sure!

Oh and for you folks who wanna see a bare metal P-51D scheme... Hang on till tomorrow morning! -you guys are going to see an all new scheme never before done. Get ready for the S3 scheme.

TKO and fellas:

S3 P-51D scheme? Did I miss a scheme somewhere? On 21st Century's website it only showed one scheme - in RAF markings. Was that one the S1 or S2? Am I not reading it correctly? I don't want to miss out on spotting all the schemes for this D model Stang. Help a brotha out. Thanks!!

That S1 scheme is just about the funkiest paintscheme I've ever seen on a P-51... Not sure that I like it all that much. What about revisiting some of the schemes already doen on a 32x - or even 1:18th plane? Hopefully the S2 version is a bit more tonned down.

That NMF looks sweet! I've always liked the 5th AF giant stripes. One thing of interest, the -51Ds usually had an extra pair of stripes than the -47s and others.

Yep you guys were reading it right! The RAF is S3 the S1 is Miss Bonnie I have been told that the S2 scheme will be released to me sometime later this week and that this scheme has not been covered yet. So more news to come on that front!

I can't wait to see these things hit the shelves myself.

I love the paint schemes! Although I'd love to see an Indonesian P-51D. Neat looking indeed. Odd, but I like the way this particular one is done, it looks like it almost says "Sally" below the canopy.

I am going to post up the S2 paint scheme for the new P-51D on monday. It's another natural metal scheme. One that has not been done by 21st in any scale so far! It looks SHARP!

Hey TKO, when are we going to see a FW190A scheme? It's been a few months since we were told we'd see a non-ground attack version...
