THat is cool that the pitot tube will come installed in the new Avengers, and the screw covers are a big plus.

I don't think WM accepts returns without a reciept. I got these things months ago.....

Repeat?

Post by Folkwulfe » Wed Oct 25, 2006 7:47 am

This may have been addressed before...so forgive the repeat. I contacted 21C through their email customer service. I asked if the screw caps would be available to those of us who bought their Avengers through WM and they were missing. The reply I got was...send them you name and address and they will send them when (if?) 21C has them available. I refuse to believe that I'm the ONLY person who has inquired about the caps. Maybe the more requests they receive, the more prompt and vigilent they will be about getting them to those of us who support 21C. Can't hurt...it only costs an email!

caps

Post by digger » Wed Oct 25, 2006 7:54 am

How are they going to know who is entitled to screw caps? After all, very few people still have a receipt or even the box I assume..is it just the honor system? If so I could see them popping up on ebay very shortly as many people don't know about this site or Area 21 (see $1 VN figures promptly sold on ebay for $5).
That is why money back is laughable - how many people would sign up for $5? I'm sure quite a few. Besides, 9 out of 10 of us knew darn well the state of the bird when we bought it. Not saying screw caps wouldn't be nice, but let's not pretend we were had...
As some people said with the Hellcat missing details - maybe we should just be glad we got it after all that time....

I received the same message, and immediately contacted them asking to confirm that I had one on order and it was not cancelled (as I wanted). Two days later and I haven't received a reply, so if one shows on my doorstep I guess it's going back.

Too Much Coffee?

Post by Folkwulfe » Wed Oct 25, 2006 8:09 am

Guys...GUYS...settle down! I for one am glad I finally got an Avenger after some three years of anticipation. Sure, there were some missing details and maybe a QC problem. Sure 21C may have made a mistake sending ALL the initial orders to WM. Sure WM made some "funny" decissions about where to send them. Just makes me more glad I got one when I did. I see post continually from others on this board who haven't SEEN one yet. How about the poor guys overseas who don't have WM's in their countries? Personally, I knew what it was and the shortcomings before I plopped my bucks on the counter....and I'm not regreting the purchase one bit. BadCat is sending a second my way as we speak. If it's greatly improved...the WM version is going into the "Mod Shop"...if not, I've got four guys chomping at the bit to buy it from me....no big deal and I'm out nothing. Not to say that I'd like to see some improvements all around...from details to QC to distribution and availability!! Of coarse I would! But I'm an aviation buff from a long way back....and I gotta tell you, I'm not disappointed in the Avenger....I see possibilities! How about a Fire Bomber version? Yeah, I can cut this, paint that, modify the cowl here, the canopy there...VIOLA! At least I have a place to start. Can you imagine scratch building one of these "turkeys"?

My email back from 21st C was:
If the screw caps become available for your model, we'll be glad to send
them. We'll keep you email in case they do.

Not to reassuring that they will have extras to send out... :(

As to the post above about proof of purchase.Who would want some plastic plugs if they DONT have a avenger? Would not be much use if you dont have one.

I can scalp them on eBay!  MUUWAHAHA!

I also emailed customer service very politely to see what their response would be. I sure hope we can get them sent to us, but will understand otherwise. Mostly everyone was aware the screw holes would be an issue aside from the folks who don't come here or were one of the first few who bought one.

Well, I got a fast response back to my email. Here is what they said to me:

"If you email us your name and address, we'll send them if the become
available for your model."

Doesn't sound like a promise but at least my name will be on the list. I encourage all to email them requesting the same. Be sure to sprinkle some sugar in your email to help sweeten the deal.

i was joking about giving us each $5 dollars. I'll write jokes in italics from now on so they're more obvioius.

I could see them either requesting you send in the upc code from the box, or just go by the honour system. Maybe send a maximum of 1 or 2 sets of screw caps per address. 21c could include a slip of paper with the caps saying they are expressly NOT FOR RESALE.

It would really bug me if dirt bags started scalping the things on ebay, i think i would have to go after them.

I like how the photos in the new Avenger press-release on the Area21 site do not show the side with the missing screw covers, though one can see they are missing under the wing

I just got off the phone with BCA. The guy there shows my order cancelled. Supposedly they saw my previous post and cancelled the shipment and credited me before I called!!! WOW! Now that is action. Thanks BCA for following up! I am waiting on those 262s, by the way, hehehe.... ;)
