Boats

Post by HIDEOUS ONE » Sat Feb 26, 2005 2:20 pm

I wonder why 21st hasn't attempted any Boats or landing craft? It would be great to have a Higgins boat for a D-Day scene. Even a P-T boat would be cool. An invasion craft would probably be the most affordable ( to make ) just based on size. What do you think? And when are we going to see Artillery pieces, and mg crews or mortar crews? These elements are vital.

EVEN a PT boat?! It would be about 4 1/2 feet long....large indeed and probably out of the question given 21c's current frame of mind and strange fascination with their one size box.

It would be quite spectacular however... :D

There was that prototype for a Viet Nam PBR a couple years ago. Too bad one didn't feature prominently in "Platoon" to warrant its creation for the coming resurection of the 21c Viet Nam line.

I would like to see a Higgins boat (if however unlikely) as that would go well with the Marines, as well as the S1 troops.

Hey, I just thought of something cool, how about a PBR like in Apocalypse Now. Does anyone else agree. Maybe an R/C version could be made. (Heavy Sarcasm...) One day, Aferg someone will make it !!!

You know the nut that wants the zero made. Well, I am the nut that wants the PBR.....

Yeah, probably limited to the size box they use to ship. Maybe for the PT they could tape to stuart boxes together.

Midwest makes a turn key r/c PT boat, not sure of the scale but really sweet.

1/24 scale, it's nice.

Dumas made a 1/20 r/c kit of an Elco boat. Not great accuracy but not bad. You can find built up ones on Ebay from time to time...expect to pay $600+ for a decent one.

I picked up a RHIB (Rigid Hull Inflatable) from Power Team. It's pretty good, and at least gives my modern guys something to play with.

I've got the actual builders plans for a PBR and an Elco Boat (plus a bunch of others). Someday... someday...

I remember reading awhile back (Feb 01?), in the one and only fan club newsletter that was ever sent to me, about 21st making boats/ships. As usual, nothing yet.

I would love to see some 1/1200 or even 1/2400 scale WWII ships made. They could do them in sets of 6-10. Small task forces to game with.

I think a higgins boat would rock in 32X. I use BMC higgins boats.

A motorized PT boat with an exclusive JFK fig would be cool too.

i know that i've stated that i would kill a man for a 1:18 intruder, but i would kill 10 men for a PBR, its has got to be one of my all time fav nam era items, would buy bunches if they were ever released.
