Remember these?
I have a few of these from the 90's...don't think they make them anymore. Anyone else have or remember these?

Oh, yes
These were great for their day - retractable landing gear, opening canopies, figures, and even dropping bombs. I had the WWII planes, the F-4, Mig-19, A-10, Apache, the C-130 and some of the smaller vehicle and figure sets. Sure, we've been spoiled by the quality of the small-scale military products since 1997, but the Battlesquads lineup was cool.

Here's what they had in the small scales of this lineup:
Aircraft:
P-51
FW-190
F-4 Phantom
Mig-19
A-10
AH-64 Apache
C-130 Gunship
Armor, Vehicles, Artillery:
Jeep
Kubelwagen
Ferret Armored car
Tiger
Sherman
Merkava
Navy Seal raft
Towed AA gun (came with Jeep)
Missle system (came with Ferret car)
Figures & Playsets:
German Bunker (came with Kubel)
US AA Gun set (Jeep & gun)
Boat dock (came with SEAL raft)
Soldiers Platoon 1 (green cammo)
Soldiers Platoon 2 (black cammo)
The tanks were significantly over-scaled and probably closer to 1:48 scale as opposed to 1:64. Some of the aircraft like the F-4, Mig-19, and A-10 were underscaled, but the P-51, FW-190, and C-130 were to scale. The C-130 was very cool, with opening cockpit & passenger compartment, opening ramp 7 cargo hold, thumb-activated props, swiveling guns and firing missiles. It even came with a Jeep on a pallet with working parachute. Again, these vehicles were detailed for their time, but there's almost no comparison with our small-scale military products today.
There were also larger figures made for the Battlesquads line that were probably in the 1:16 - 1:10 scale range. I remember them being larger than the GI Joe and Star Wars figures I had for reference at the time. There were 4-6 of those figures and a Hummer - at least that's what I can remember. I never purchased those.

The tanks were nice, but the barrels were way out of wack, size-wise, due to containing a working firing mechanism. I loved the FW 190
I used to buy them for my son. As I recall the whole line of Micro Machines was scrapped because Galoob was bought out by another company (Hasbro?) that didn't wish to continue the line.

Galoob was indeed bought out by Hasbro in 1997. You still see some of the old Star Wars Action Fleet ships reused as part of the Titanium series, some of which still say Galoob on them. I remember the Battlesquads line was all over at Target and Toys R Us and probably Wal Mart (though I didn't shop there then). I even found some at Pick 'n Save - the store that eventually became Big Lots! Galoob was a very nice company to deal with and I bought many of my vehicles direct from their company store. They were family-owned and based out of the San Francisco area in California (actually near where 21c is currently based.) I hope not to see their fate replicated by 21c or Admiral Toys.

I used to have the Vader playset. I got it for Christmas one year along with Revell's venerable 1/570th scale RMS Titanic model kit. The playset came with a miniature Vader and Luke Skywalker, as well as a space where you could pop up Han Solo in his Carbonite stage. Great times.
I remember playing with Micro Machines alot in my early years. One of my favorites was this set resembling a island base which included a channel you could move one of their LA class sub models through (There was even a clear blue plastic base fixed over top of the sub to simulate water depth!). Another thing I liked about them were the train sets. You could get the trains themselves in packs (Usually a loco and a few cars) as well as track, and add on buildings and other features. For me it was cheaper alternative to the more expensive HO sets.
