How to Hang bbi F-16 on Wall?

Post by Tinman » Sun Jul 29, 2007 9:05 am

I've decided to mount my F-16 on a sheet rock wall, gear retracted, belly to the wall, nose at about a 45 degree angle, if you follow me.

Any thoughts on how best to do this? Appreciate all of your input!

If it were me, I would use eyehooks and fishingline. Position the plane on the wall and determine where to place the hooks. Insert the hooks. You will want to make sure they're heavy-duty hooks and that they're inserted securely. Then make two loops of fishingline, with one being shorter than the other in order to hold the plane at the desired angle.

Now that I think about it, however, fishingline and hooks may be more visible than you would like. You might then consider using large nails or some other type of support on which the plane can rest in the desired position.

These are just my ideas, but I hope they help :) I'm sure other boardmembers that are far more handy than me will come up with something even better

I've mounted about 15 of my planes in the same manner you're talking about. I used L-hooks that you screw into the sheetrock. I positioned the hooks so that they hold the plane at the wing root.

You know I have the same plane hung on my wall in my office the same way you are thinking of. I have a suspended ceiling so I just went to the edge of the ceiling and dropped some 20lb fishing line down to the plane. I hung it at with its nose at about 10 o’clock. It looks great and takes up no more room than a picture would.
