Here's yet another poll about 21c products
This time its concerning the 1:18 halftracks, in honor of the latestst armor releases from 21c. So, which of the XD 1:18 US and German halftracks do you all think is the best? I have omitted listing each paint variation in favor of just the vehicle type.
Have fun

Although I don't have one as yet, my vote goes to the pak-40 halftrack.

The PAK has my vote. The Zu Fuss was my first choice but I was disappointed with the missing forward MG and the mounting of the rocket cages. They didn’t seem to be in the right place. I like the Pioneer wagon since it’s an unusual piece. I like the M-16 but wasn’t to hot on the paint job. That grey weathering on the lower half and wheels just bothers me. Still they are all great models but the new PAK seems to be really well built and has a surprisingly nice paint scheme.

Yeah, why is the forward machine gun missing on the Stuka zu fuss?

Hmm well I've sold all mine and the one I've been waiting for since last year, the Kanonenwagen hasn't shown up at TRU yet. Well, no 21st stuff has shown up at TRU yet.

So I'll have to go with the Kanonenwagen.

You can break the middle bar pieces that hold the rockets on and they will fit into a perfect fit

I have to go with the pak 40 hanomag-even though i don't have one yet

I have already customized mine and fixed all the issues including the addition of the forward MG. The Main problem with the Zu Fuss is that the ruts for the rocket mounts on the sides are in the wrong location. When/if you add the MG you will see what I mean. Maybe I will post a picture sometime in the customs section. Still, it’s a cool beast.

The PAK has my vote, as well--I like the fact that details on the PAK-40 and its mount weren't sacrificed just to cram it into the halftrack.

This is my modified Stuka Zu Fuss:
I found a heavily discounted regular SDK-251 Halftrack at Wal Mart and purchased it to use for parts. With a little bit of custom paint work, the vehicle came out looking pretty good!
The Pak-40 Hanomag gets my vote, however. It t has the most original tooling, detail, and simply looks like it means business

i took the rockets of my zu fuss and put them on a white 13, russian front camo halftrack. I like the look much better and it solved the forward machine gun problem. I plan to put the pak 40 mount in the leftover ambush pattern 251.

Man tman yours is fantastic. It is almost dead on to mine but my top mg mount is still in the yellow and green camo

Didn't someone on here post pics once of a custom painted regular hanomag that was painted white with custom mud on it

I voted for the one they haven't made yet. I can't wait for a small sdkfz 251/1 or a sdkfz 7 to pull that new 88mm gun around.

I'm a big half-track guy, regardless of origin but this post ignores the biggest daddy of them all for half-tracks:...
The SdKfz9 18ton German Famo
This track was used to tow guns like the 88 (soon to be 1/18?????) and in teams of two and three, were used to tow broken down Tigers and Panthers. By itself it was used as a prime mover for tanks and all the big field artillery, and used to mount AAA guns in various configerations.
Of course we all remember it can also carry Lee Marvin and Charlie Bronson and tow an American 40mm AAA gun in "The Dirty Dozen".
How cool can that be for a dio?

I think you mean the SdKfz. 7 , TTT ,.. the SdKfz. 9 is the "mac daddy".

I'll take either one, or both, the 12T or the "baby' (SdKfz7) one.

I'm thinking a 250 or 251 Ausf C. Although the PaK Wagon has to be among the neatest of the current crop. If I had to choose I would ultimately pick the Pionierwagen.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.
