Any news from the judges!!!! I'm with PANZER_M on this one----I to would like a deadline in OCT.-DEC. or something like that--- just to have plenty of time to get all that is needed in the contest!!!! I to would like customs to be used---I mean hey a dio is a custom--- so it would make me happy!!!!
I do love the ideal of a story line dio---just sounds like it will be funn!!!!
I also think it would be cool to have a contest for all scales---just so it would get alot more folks to enter the contest!!! That way there would be 2 or 3 winners and maybe all the #1s would compete for over all winner!!!! Just a thought!!!!---RED---

I think i am going to do a ambush scene . With a allied patrol and a panther hiding in the bushes waiting for the right moment to attack. Or a d-day scene.

okay I am back from my trip to America! Found a lotta good stuff! A FOV Lee and King Tiger and two sets of infantry, a 21st century plane, a weathering kit, etc. etc. Okay this is how its going to be (judges can definently overrule me on this) there is two different catergoriesL 1/18th and 1/35-1/48th. SO far I have not seen any interest in ppl wanting to make a 1/72 dio but if so then we can have that as well. Customizing will be allowed but photoshopping is a no no. And I think the deadline we sorta kinda decided on was October am I right???

Hey Col. PICKLE and JUDGES !!!---Cool!!! Just wanted to be a little clearer on a few things --- like when in OCT. is the deadline,is this just a dio or is it a storyline dio,is there a theme like ETO only or PTO only or whatever we contestants would like to do,is it alright to have 1:32 armor in a 1:18 dio and so forth ,and is there a prize for the winners???? ---RED---

Might muddy the waters if we are having separate scale catagories.....or were you thinking of "forcing the background/foreground perspective" for your dio?RED wrote:is it alright to have 1:32 armor in a 1:18 dio and so forth

I think you should just start a new forum in the customs and mods because if you are doing all these scales things will get confusing. I think the title should be all scale contest. So we will have a 1/18 group and so on down the scales.First round will be all the contestents. Then there will be a second round with the top two dioramas and they will face off in creating a new diorama. Then the winner is announced
Hope you get lightning back in

Contest
Hi,
Just got back from vacation. Got roped in to buying a timeshare when all I planned on doing was sitting under a tropical sun and get burnt to a crisp.
Anyway, been very busy launching our second site (www.princesscollectibles.com) and trying to catch up on all the paperwork, orders, bills, etc. that built up in our absence. We also have alot of stuff coming in this week that will keep us busy for several days so I apologize for not spending more time here.
Anyway, here's my thoughts in a few sentences. For us to sponsor this contest, we would request that at least 10 entrants be entered for consideration in each scale. It wont work for us if only three guys decide to enter the 1:35 scale regime, while 20 guys sign up for the 1:72. I would have no problem sponsoring a 20 man event, but a minimum number of entrants needs to be established for this to work.
I think three judges would work and we could possibly come up with some sort of blind scoring system, where we would then show the entire results at the conclusion of the contest.
If another vendor wanted to join in to sponsor the event, then yes, we could discuss consolatation prizes. Otherwise, it would get expensive real fast if we alone were to hand out first and second prizes.
As for themes, I think you guys need to come up with an agreed upon consensus and decide once and for all if you can doll up the images in photoshop or some other similar program. As for deadline, I think the Thanksgiving timeframe would be optimal. We start to get busy in November and would need to wrap this up real fast, especially now that we have two sites to run.
Cordially,

er...so would you be one of those three judges lightning? Also good luck on this princess site of yours!
Okay so to find out if we have the min. number of contestants EVER ONE WHO IS IN PLEASE TYPE THE WORD: IN! BEFORE YOUR NEXT POST ON THIS TOPIC.
so for example:
IN! I think we should...etc. etc.
Thanks!
PS Maybe we should write an email/letter to 21st Century asking them if they would be willing to sponsor either a first place prize or an honorable mention prize. We could tell them that they coudl use these dioramas on their site for example to promote their products as I am sure lots of our dios will have their stuff. We could do the same thing for FOV. It would not have to be big maybe just a plane or tank or two ( or one of those new playsets
) I would be willing to write the email in noone else wants to but my letter writing skills are not so great...

I think you should start another thread like V2 man suggested, where people could say which scale they will be participating in and therefore Lightning would know which scale would be officially be in the contest. If you only say "In" it does not say much about which scales people are most interested in making a dio. My 2 cents...

IN 1/18
Lightning: why were you saying that their should be a minimum number for each category? Is it for the sake of awarding the prizes? If so may I suggest - One overall winner. The sponsored prize could be (for example) a 1/72 prize pack, a 1/35 prize pack or the 1:16 tank. So depending on who won (and with what scale) they could simply choose which prize they wanted out of the three.
As for photoshopping. I'll start a pole to see who wants it, and who doesn't. Lets say a week from now, the majority wins (or at least we'll get a better idea of how many are in favour or oppose. If the judges come to a decision before hand, the poll will become void.

IN for 1/18 scale
I have been reading through the thread and see good ideals from everybody, but would like to see one or all of the judges breakdown the specific parameters of the contest:
-Deadline?
-Is a story line required?
-What criteria will the dioramas be judge on?
-Can we have more than one diorama on the same subject?
Etc...
