Strangely, no 1:32 aircraft here at all. Glad I got my Stuka and Corsair a month or two ago. Also the armor is down to either none at all in some stores and a few dusty PZ IV's and Kingtigers at others.

Most of the wm's in my ao are the smaller, older kind ( though all are currently being converted to larger super wm's or replaced by them). I am used to little or no 21C product.
Suddenly all of them have large stocks of 1/18 aircraft but still little to no 1/32 with the exception of a few lingering Priest kits. I am waiting impatiently for later this year when I should have 2-3 new stores to hit. :D

Pass them on

Post by FNG » Wed Jul 04, 2007 9:16 pm

Hi,
If any of you guys get a chance to pick up an extra set of the "Operation Cobra-Breakout" in your AO. Please pass them along to your fellow collectors who cannot find them in our AO. I'm located in St. Petersburg Fl. and have seen none of these new sets as of yet, but if I do I'll let you guys know. The most recent I have seen are the Artillary in Support and the Squad support Halftrack playsets, both German and American. One store had a bunch of the Motorworks M-7 Priests for $14.76 and the German Trucks in Grey and Desert Yellow.
This is my first post and as I am new, less than six months I cannot trade or sell from what I read about the rules of FNG's.
Thanks,
Karl

I found the new artillery playset today. Here is how it looks.

http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w251 ... P_2783.jpg
http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w251 ... P_2784.jpg

The wheels do come off with a little effort.http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w251 ... P_2786.jpg
http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w251 ... P_2787.jpg
Also, the barrel elevates.
http://s178.photobucket.com/albums/w251 ... P_2789.jpg
The controls do not work, but , all in all it is a nice piece.
There are a few small distress marks to make it look worn.
Oh, and be careful with the barrel. To allow it to travel in recoil, it is not really attached. It can easily slide right out.

Thanks for the pictures, blurx7! The gun looks fairly well detailed and weathered for the low price. I can only hope that the Sherman Firefly looks that good.

P.S., cute cats you've got there! Are they apathetic about your hobby, or are they fascinated like mine is? Of course, if you roll a tank towards her she runs away - who wouldn't?

We have three cats who all look alike and all of whom are totally apathetic about my toys! But then, they are all from the same litter, have never been separated, and still move with a "pack" mentality. It's weird! Sort of like the raptors in Jurassic Park. They "triangulate" their prey as they stalk.
Hey, maybe it's a good thing they ignore my tanks! :D
I will try to post some pictures of the Firefly.

Plenty of 1/32 stuff here. Many aircraft too. Examples are the winter me109. Dak panzer and Eurpean panzer with side armor. And many playsets.

I got the Operation Cobra: Breakout set from FieroDude today :D The new playsets have not shown up in my area as of yet, even though the new P-51B/Cs have appeared in number

Anyways, how come no one who has found this has mentioned the new German figures? All six figures are new sculpts and new poses! The Sherman Firefly tank is also nicely done as well and I love the redesigned turret!

I did a quick run through of my neighboohood WM and was about to leave when I noticed some shiny plastic behind the German Mortar team/halftrack playset that had been on the bottom shelf forever. I knocked that out of the way and found the shiny plastic was the window on the Heavy Artillery set, and behind it the Cobra Breakout set! I wasn't really looking to spend forty bucks today but I knew my chances of seeing those sets again, let alone both sets at the same time were pretty slim so out came the debit card! :P

They are both really nice, especially the Firefly. Now if I could only find the Polish/RAF P-51B!

I'll mention that They kick ass! They were one of the first things I noticed when I picked up the box. :P

Yea, they are great. My favorite one is laying in a prone position on a rubble base behind a small piece of blown out brick wall and looking down the sights of his MP-40.

If they've filtered down to the Wally wastelands of Central Florida I'm sure they will be hitting the Northeast soon. 8)

New playsets ?

Post by MG-42 » Sat Jul 14, 2007 12:45 pm

I've seen these "new sets" , they've been around my AO for a couple of weeks now ,

but ,..........

does anybody know if any of these new tanks & guns are going to be ( sold seperately ) , ( not in playset form ) , like most of their previous releases ?

Or is this playset thing just a "new concept" ?

.... Not that it's a bad "marketing scheme" however , I could do without some of the x-tra junk and x-tra cost. ... So this may have something to do with a little "FoV competition" perhaps.

Interesting ! .................

Two weeks ago would be around June 29, exactly when this thread started.
Ans as to the concept being new, this is the third or fourth round of playsets they have offered. The original playset included two vehicles, soldiers and scenery, and was sold at TRU for, if I recall correctly, about $100. For awhile, the only way to get the original version of Sturmgeschutz IV was in that $100 set. It was quite the hard to get piece back then. Many collectors bought the $100 set just to get the Sturmgeschutz.
There have been numerous subsequent smaller playsets in the same range as these new ones, but without the plastic "window". So I doubt 21C is copying anyone. If anything, I think it would be FOV copying 21C.
By the way, 21C has always released things in strange sequences. I would bet we will see all these vehicles released as stand alone pieces, however, it would not surprise me to see some go straight to "kit" form, or only find their way to certain ao's in that form.

New playsets ?

Post by MG-42 » Sat Jul 14, 2007 1:51 pm

.... Don't get me wrong , this is a mis-understanding , so I do apologize. ... I had the playset w/ the "Sturmgeschutz IV" and "grey Tiger" , which I sold. :D

I meant ,.......

Is this ( mini-playset ) thing , something new they're toying with. .... Obviously.

That's all.

"Toying" to be sure!
No need to apologise! :D
I thought we were just discussing. :D
Maybe I should be more free with my emoticans!:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

But there have been the various other sets the same size as the new ones, too. There were sets with the Listening Post, and both the German and American mortar crews, and before that there were sets with one vehicle and, say, the normandy beach defence tower or part of a bridge.
There was even one that had, at least in my AO, the Annamae Priest before I ever saw it locally in any other form.
So, I guess my point is just that this seems nothing more than a continuation. The only change being the refinement of adding the window so you can actually see what you are getting.
I bet the window came about because WM complained that customers were opening sealed boxes to see what was actually in there.
