Trains and XD pics

Decided to take a few photos of my garden railroad. Its only about 2 months old, so there is alot of work to be done. The main section finally has all the track put down (including the three bridges), but most of the landscaping has suffered from the heat, the kids playing out there, and our new puppy digging. Even the train track has had to survive one of my older dogs continually pooping in the middle of the rails (more effective than bombers at cutting off the supply lines).

I hope to eventually do some wargaming out there, since there is plenty of space and tons of objectives to attack/defend.

It looks like you spent alot of time on it.

I checked out all your other pics too.

I like the supply shed with the tin roof. Can you show us how you made the tin roof?

The tin roof is made from coke cans. I cut the tops and bottoms off using my bandsaw. Then, I run the can through a paper crimper from Michaels. Usually you need to run it through twice to make a good pattern. Also, some cans are thinner than others. With as many as I've cut up, you'd think I'd remember which brands that is.

Aristocraft and USA trains make US equipment that runs on G-scale track in 1:29 scale. Marklin and MTH makes 1:32 stuff that runs on G-scale track. Here's the link to the Marklin stuff

Sorry I didn't comment before, but that looks great! Makes me wonder how much that the opposing forces in the North African campaign depended on rail transport. I should probably do some research on that

I'm sad to hear that your dog has decided that your railway is a toilet! At least you don't have to worry about lingering odour if you're setting up dioramas outside after you clean up the mess.

The benefit of 110 degree weather - the obstructions turn into rocks pretty quickly. But, they are very effective at derailing engines that run into them (always check the entire mainline before running

Pretty CooL! I want to set up a garden railroad sometime. I also like the Star Wars element. I have incorporated stormtroopers with my Bbi tanks and APV's and it looks alright.

Just a quick update.

We had a pretty good monsoon storm blow through Thursday night. The winds pretty much took everything in my backyard and threw it against my trainset. The 8-foot long bridge shown in the fourth pictures actually took a direct hit from one of the cozy coupe kiddie cars my kids have. Moved the whole thing about 6 inches, bending the rails of both ends. However, the bridge survived. Looks like once I stop working these weekends

I got some work ahead of me to get it running again.
