Which would you open?

It looks like I'm going to be getting a Motorworks Tiger with the diecast hull. I already have a Series 1 Tiger (gray) that is still in box, although the box is in terrible shape.

I know I will be opening one of them, because I got rid of my loose Tiger a few months back, and now realize I should have just kept it. So the question for everyone is which one of the two would you open if you were in my shoes? And no, this isn't merely a question of which one is more valuable on eBay.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the diecast because of the metal body - a tank should be metal. But, considering how bad the box is on the Series 1, I'm wondering if I should open that one in case I ever change my mind again and decide to sell the one I leave in the box.

Which ever of the two looks the best would be my suggestion.

The thing I did not like about my diecast version is that all the fitting points were still moulded in plastic and looked very much added on, so much so I had to remove and re-attach all of them and then fill and sand nearly the entire hull. Also on my vehicle there was a very big gap between the hull side plates and the end plate which also required some major filling.

So again which ever one looks the best.

Open & keep the die-cast one , sell the the other one.

If it were me , of course it's still your choice though.

I'd open the dicast one - but Id also open the one with the busted box - only thing the box is good for is a higher shipping cost.

You can't tell if the tank is metal or plastic. The metal ones is heavier of course. I would say open the one with the crunched box. The box will add about 10-20 % on the sale of the item. If the box is damaged you will not get a good price for it .

If the only reason for keeping one in the box is in case you sell it, then keep the best box "sealed".
Unless the damaged old box is more "collectable" even though it's damaged, and worth more than an undamaged Motorworks box.

Open the Metal one. It really should not matter what shape the box is in. Since this hobby for 1:18 and 1:32 are not like SW, GI Joe, and Transformers, the AFA grading probably would not bring the value up like they would with the affore mentioned.

Keeping cool military toys and models in their boxes unassembled is like eating wax fruit for a snack. It fills up space, but is very unsatisfying.

Interesting perspectives.

To explain my oddness regarding boxes toys. When SW came out, I would buy duplicates of my figures because of my original figures that had parts break and never quite stayed together with glue. I figured this way I would have a backup in case they break. I'm trying to break the habit - maybe I can start by opening both Tigers

Its a first step!

If I knew how much my original Star Wars figures would be worth now, mint-on-card, then I would never have opened them. Recently saw the "TESB"-carded Han Solo with big head for GBP195 (USD371), "TESB" Hoth Leia for GBP65 (USD123) and Luke Skywalker listed as GBP220 (USD418)... and what makes it worse is mine were on the ORIGINAL Star Wars backs with only the first dozen figures ever done, which are shedloads rarer.

Please excuse me while I go and cry for a while.
