But I'm very glad about the german armor and artillery that will be released this year. But a german Pak-Hanomag (hopefully), a 8.8 artillery and a Königstiger versus a trailer with anti-air gun? Seems like a joke. I hope we will see a priest soon.

Gun trailer "search-light" custom
... or you can turn your trailer into a custom. Remove the gun , make and add a "search-light" to it instead.
... Just a thought.
There's still possibilities and uses for this thing.
>>> Just a side note too : I can't believe this is the "New Armor" news we've all been waiting on. Where's the real SURPRISE !
"Break out the towels" , guys. Whaaa !!

Eh.
21st isn't dumb. They know full well what their fans are going to think when they announced there's a new "armor" on the way.
If we have a wide variety of armor to choose from, this thing would have been a welcomed addition...but come on!
The Panzer IV was the last 1/18 "armor" we've seen from anyone.
And no, hanomags/halftracks/pak 40 are NOT armor, so they don't count.
And neither does repaints.
So basically, the only true "armor" that 21st produced in 1/18 are:
M48A3 Patton
M41 Bulldog
M4 Sherman
Panther
Tiger
Panzer IV
If they wanted to save some money, they could have made variations of their existing armors.
I just wish the Tiger II arrives FIRST before this trailer.....
I'm not really griping...I just wish 21st, BBI, etc would pay as much attention to tanks like they do aircraft.

Hano's and Halftracks aren't armor? I'd debate that I think...
PAK-40's though I'd agree with. Like I said earlier in this thread, there should be armor and artillery... And of course simply "Combat vehicles" too for those pieces just for moving bodies around.
AA stuff, PAK, 88, etc., all under the artillery category to me... And I'm just as happy to hear then, "a new piece of artillery is coming" as I am to hear that a new piece of armor or a new combat vehicle are on the plate too.
I'd be as happy to see a BMW or Harley as I would be to see a Howitzer or a new T-34. It's just what they tease us with what we're getting that determines how happy or "oh, ok I thought you meant _____", my reaction will be.

But yeah, just IMHO I don't think of as half tracks as *true* armor.
Imagine yourself as a US soldier in WWII hunkering in your foxhole, and suddenly you see a Tiger tank in the horizon. You called to HQ requesting armor support and HQ replied that some armor will be sent to deal with the Tiger.
And then what they sent are a couple of half-tracks with quad .50s...
Wouldn't you go, "WTF....."
I dunno about in your area, but land-based vehicles here sell out FAST.
Even the RC M113 and Panzer IVs didn't last long. In about three weeks, a shelf full of them was empty.

I cannot speak for other's areas, but in Pittsburgh it's armor and other land items that move while planes sit and sit... We've got at any given WM a number of jets, mustangs, a couple German fighters like Stukas and such... Hell one WM still has several stacks of AA Huey's.
RC M113's did poorly but look at it, could you really expect it to do great? Panzers did modestly though by comparison I think. The winter sherman moved, all the Humvees sold full price, halftracks flew off the shelves at full price but some got straight from the stockroom to the floor at clearance prices so obviously those went out the door quick. PAK-40's were non-existant if you didn't go to the store often... Trucks are beyond hard to nab. So yeah, I'd say anything on the ground moved pretty fast and the planes move I'd say at a slower pace. They don't all sell bad, but some seem to be destined to sit at this point, while others just move slowly if not a little steadily.

21st asked if I wouldn't mind posting the following message on this thread. Hopefully this might shed some light for those who have expressed questions about the release of the M17 Quadmount Trailer.
Hi Guys,
I have read with interest the reactions to our new 1/18th M17 Trailer with Quadmount and was surprised to see the news met with some frustration and disappointment. For the last few years, new 1/18th scale armor (and by armor, I mean as a general category, as opposed to airplanes) releases have been few and far between, but that has changed! In the last 6 months or so, we have released the following new items:
Sdkfz 251/7 Pioneerpanzerwagen
Sdkfz 251 Stuka Zu Fuss
M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage
7.5cm Pak 40 cannon
…As well as 17 NEW figures in the D-Day lineup.
Coming over the next few months are:
Sdkfz 251/22 w/Pak 40
King Tiger
88mm Flak 36/37
M17 Trailer w/Maxon Quadmount
…And at least 12 NEW figures.
There has never been a time when there was more new 1/18th scale “Armor” product being released. As far as I can tell, we are the only ones in recent times to bring out actual vehicles and support equipment to support the 1/18th scale figures. An Army is not comprised only of main battle tanks. There is a huge range of weapons and equipment. We are trying to bring you a good selection to help with your diorama building and play possibilities. The M17 is far from a boring piece. The Maxon mount in the M17 trailer was used with deadly effect against enemy troops at many famous engagements, including the Bridge at Remagen. Four 50 caliber Browning M2s could produce a withering concentration of destructive force. They were also used extensively to shoot down those hated airplanes that seem to be the bane of the ground based collectors! And we certainly understand that you guys want main battle tanks, but we can only ship what the stores order. Its up to you guys to let the retailers know you want tanks!
Your patience will soon be rewarded with new armor releases hitting the shelves. We should be seeing revised test shots of the new Flak 36/37 soon. I must tell you that I reviewed the first shots when I was in Hong Kong last month, and this one will rock your world. It is by far the most detailed and functional piece we have done to date. The King Tiger is BIG, very nicely detailed, and will be available at a reasonable price. There are a number of other new armor (Yes ARMOR in the classic sense of the word) projects in the works, and at least 12 (maybe more) new figures will also be hitting the shelves before the end of the year.
As I see it, it is a Golden Age for 1/18th scale military collectors. Then again, my opinion may not be completely unbiased!
Happy collecting! Roy

reminds me of a scene in "Kelly Heroes" where cowboy drives a halftrack out the barn only to come right back in saying something about tigers...Imagine yourself as a US soldier in WWII hunkering in your foxhole, and suddenly you see a Tiger tank in the horizon. You called to HQ requesting armor support and HQ replied that some armor will be sent to deal with the Tiger.
And then what they sent are a couple of half-tracks with quad .50s...

I imagine that the new releases will come out prior to christmas, like last year.
Something about Roy's letter bothers me..."And we certainly understand that you guys want main battle tanks, but we can only ship what the stores order"
uhmm don't the stores order what YOU produce and have in the catalog?
My impression of that line is the stores are telling the manufacteurs what to make and sell.
unless I'm reading that wrong?
Dave
well..
You are reading that right. If you read Mike's posts, and now Roy's post, you will see that is exactly how it works. The big stores tell the companies, not the other way around. Product somewhat but more price point and display size. No doubt Target, TRU and WM are all very specific about what they'll buy.My impression of that line is the stores are telling the manufacteurs what to make and sell.
unless I'm reading that wrong?

In WMs eyes, the M17 is a 12-15 inch width of shelf that can be stocked 4 deep with a retail value of let's say $60. Which means that it has the potential to be about 2x more valuable than the same shelf space dedicated to 1/18 aircraft. Sadly enough...
