actually, it is internet slang for 'owned' ie getting beaten badly, eg 'i owned you that game'.

Rumour has it that it was started by a spelling error in some video game (should have been 'owned' put came out 'pwned'.....o and p are right beside each other on a keyboard) and since then it has been contracted to pwnd.

Sort of cool, in a geeky kind of way. :)
