New shots at 21st Website oF King Tiger and Jagdtiger

Post by Sniper73 » Fri Feb 11, 2005 4:22 pm

Hey guys, in the fan club, they just posted some unpainted shots of what the new King Tiger and Jagdtiger are going to look like. Pretty cool in my opinion.

Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up. This really is a breath of fresh air from 21st and its reinvigorating my interest in the hobby quite a bit

Great job 21st for keeping us posted with the steady stream of info!

To answer Patton's question about interior detail and 32x vehicles...

Interior detail depends on the vehicle. As a general rule, most do not have interiors, but then there are exceptions. The turrets on alot of the tanks are removable, but there is no detailed interior so to speak in either the hull or turret. The removable turrets, at least on some US tanks facilitate placing figures in the small hatches which would not be possible if the turret couldn't come off. The Halftrack vehicles (US M3A1 and German SDK-251 and SDK-7), since they are open, obviously have "interiors". The M-18 has the gun breach, shells, controls and seats in the turret, but that is an open-topped armored vehicle. The SDK-222 recon car has turret gun detail as well. I think there is even a gun breach in the M-24 Chaffee tank. The new M-113 is the only vehicle with a full interior. That replica has everything - seats, cargo, controls, and the full engine. The 32x M-113 is actually a better piece than its 1:18 scale cousin!

Jagdtiger choice

Post by Sniper73 » Sat Feb 12, 2005 6:25 pm

Please don't take this as a gripe on the Jagdtiger coming out as it is anything but that. I actually love this piece of armor and it is one of my favorites in the Wermacht, second only to the Jagdpanther. I can't wait for it to come out and I will buy a couple of them.

But, how many of these were actually made out of curiousity. If memory serves me correct it was under 100, maybe just at the 100 mark? When I saw it I was surprised as it seemed an unlikely candidate. Perhaps it was chosen because of the suspension being the same as other vehicles already made?

Otto Carius fought in one towards the end of the war, after he recovered from major injuries sustained on the Russian Front.

Your'e real close, I recall the production number being in the 80's. The only fewer Tigers were the SturmTiger - another good candidate for "parts reusability" within the 21C line.

I thought so

Thanks for confirming nfafan, I thought it was that slim. Either way, its welcome. Maybe we'll get some more russian fig's with it which woudl be a nice way to bulk out some adversaries. For us Russian front guys, its starting to trickle in, but those FOV t-34s still need a few infantrymen to support them
