Hey guys, i thought you might want to see these.
I dotn know if anyone remembers it, but a while ago i had talked about modifying a 21st century mustang. I since have begun working on a BBI one, so this project has oficialy been scraped.
I had started this a while ago, before i was proficient in using styrene, hence the abundance of balsa used. I hadnt aquired a Dremel yet, wich was another hinderance to this project.
The retract hinges were micro-scale rc retracts modified to fit inside the airframe.
Thought you guys might like to see the pics anyway.

actually the project was just to make the airplane apear to be more scale, mainly bu re'working the landing gear and cockpit. the retracts were just used as a hinge for the mains, and the wire was to be covered with plastic tubing to beef it up. The gear would still need to be oporated manually but was to ook beter han the stock one.

Interesting stuff. I have done a few modifications to a couple of my XD planes also. It seems there is a bit of a learning curve to improve the outcome. I wish I had more experience in plastics/ molding. It would allow me to do so much more. I have motorized a P-47 Razorback and wanted to do lights but haven't and am not sure of the voltage needed for mini LEDs so I will have to check into that. I have worked on the gear of a couple of 190's mainly due to breakage but have an idea using aluminum tubing to make telescoping gear. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for sharing the pics.
