I wonder if there are any war movies made by the Japanese that depict them fighting Americans during WWII.
Most of the Japanese Movies that I have seen are Samauri or Ninja (WWHHOAAA!!!!!)
It seems the Toho GODZILLA films are an allegory to the suffering and aftermath caused by WWII.
The Germans have several WWII movies (The Bridge, Das Boot, Stalingrad, Downfall).
Japanese WWII Movies?
"Zero Pilots" is a decent 1. It is the story of Saburo Sakai...lots of models being blown apart. It might still be available @ Blockbuster.
There is another 1, that I saw many years ago in Thailand, that I could not recall the Title
...It is the story of a naval fighter unit, and it was destroyed by US Air Power. The film ended, with the last surviving pilot, ramming a B-29...If any of you saw this film, Please give me the Title.

It's not a film solely about Japanese airpower but "Empire of the Sun" has quite a few scenes where the kid in the story is facinated with Zeros and watches the Japanese pilots with awe.
He is horified when Mustangs attack the airfield and shoots down and blows up those Zeros. Then, of course, he screams "Mustang, Cadillac of the sky" as the Mustang comes down lower than the roof the kid is on and waves. Knowing Spielberg, some great CG mixed with RC.
Great avaiation shots with RC planes (about 5 foot wingspan) in the "making of" feature on the DVD.
