to wash or not to wash and pilots

I just learned that the June releases (arriving in North America in July) for Hobby Master 1/72 scale planes will come WITHOUT a weathering wash. This is on a trial basis only, they want to see how well they are received and could become the norm. The wash will remain on their 1/48 planes at least for now.

Also a pair of pilot figures is nearing completion and will be available for all aircraft. I will find out when you can expect to see them with the models.

After I posted that Hobby Master was going to drop the wash there were so many posts on 4 or 5 forums, PMs and emails to me and emails to Hobby Master requesting the wash be kept. The percentage in favor of the wash was about 4 - 1 in favor. A lot of replies said that it is a Hobby Master feature and without it the models would just be like the other companies. As a result Hobby Master will continue to use a wash and will make every effort to keep the wash as light as possible but this can be extremely difficult with some paint scheme colors. As they have shown in the past Hobby Master tries to listen to what people want and have to make decisions based on the overwhelming majority.

The wash always gives the plane some character, but if it comes down to it, I can live without it. I do however want pilots! (some of the competition's planes, i.e. Corgi, FOV, and Matchbox all come with pilots and the figures add alot in my opinion.) If HM wants to offer seperate figures that can be used in all aircraft, that is almost even better as they can be used elsewhere in addition to the Hobbymaster aircraft. I'll be down for a bunch
