They have to have something on the shelf when all that Spiderman crap ends up on clearance  How many Spiderman figures can people be expected to buy?

A lot if you happen to be one of those collectors who has to have everything related to a movie, or people who buy the figures just to sell them on e-bay for ridiculously high prices.

I don't think WMs going to play with us anymore. I might be wrong but if you look at whats happening in all the WMs 21C stuff is just about gone. That's not a good sign. Those 32nd scale model kits 21C came out with everybody is looking for and can't find them. Unless you look on the other side of the coin and see that 21C is having problems again and is restructering. Unlikely but a possibility. I say this because some of the online sellers have big red letters after some of 21C items "out of stock" been that way for awhile.
I don't see Target as a distributer unless they don't mind the compitition with BBI and GI Joe. But they're not that big and at least where I live have fairly small toy depts.
So what's left? 21C going out on it's own as Admiral Toys is! That's possible. 21C could do it, their line is strong enough to make it work (just need to tweak the quality control issues a little).
Maybe they could buy into the WM chain and start their own club. 21s Club :D Then they should be good to go. What ever way 21C goes is better than what we have now. Sarge

Not sure how prevalent Meijer is for you guys but they are the #3 big box store around here. While they have a somewhat large toy department, they suffer greatly in terms of "army" toys.

Either way, ideally if there was a second large distributer the variety should increase. They may even fight each other for exclusives like Target and WM do for Star Wars toys on occasion.

Grunt1--Meijers used to carry 1:6 21st Cent around here. That is where I got my buddy his scout car and jeep. They haven't had it for a long time--like going on 6 years now.

Ask almost anyone west of the Mississippi and your reply will be, Meijer who??? That would be a lot like asking someone in California if they shop at Fred Meyer (also good toy department), blanketing the Northwest just one state away, but not one store in California.

Those are all very good retailers, but the penetration just isn't there. Those stores are non-existent.

For instance, if you lived in Minnesota, you would think that there is a Target on every corner of America, but the reality is that some states didn't even know what Target was five years ago.

Seriously though, companies like 21st, Hasbro, and others like to release info when they feel it is "a done deal", or staggered so that there's interest generated.
I agree, collector interest is a part of what drives sales. there is however a fine line between generating collector interest in anticipation of a new product release, and pissing everyone off with unexpected delays and /or changes. They do like to tease us a bit, but they also play the cards rather close to their chest. Wonder when they are gonna let the cat out of the bag so we can see what big deal is already.
