This is an all new, just opened, this week, walmart. Last year the same location was the former L.I. branch of Brooklyn Poly Tech Univ. The only walmart near the American Airpower Museum is in Massapequa, just south of Republic Airport.
Anyhow BIG walmart, not much 21st product.

Wow! A new LI WM to be annoyed with...

Moth...Re: that was last year...wha? According to Newsday, the grand opening celebration was today...how long has this place been below the radar?...& Normandy, thanx for the intel, I was thinking of braving tomorrow night's storm to check this place out, obviously no need to rush...I've been spending a lotta time trolling in all my local WMs with nothing to show, there appears to be nothing in the pipeline except 32x reissues...if anybody spots the (not so) new XD 1/2 tracks on LI, please shout it out... :(

Are you sure it was the S1 version of "Big Beautiful Doll"? It shouldn't be that hard to tell apart from the retooled version, but the S1 Mustangs never made it to Wal Mart. They were also in a different box than what the retooled planes come in. I'm trusting your judgement, but could it be that the retooled version is starting to show up?

I wouldn't rule it out that the new one is starting to show at Wally. It seems like, with the exception of the P-38 and the Flight 19 Avengers, WM has managed to get the new stuff weeks or months before on-line retailers--even if it takes a monthor more for it to work it's way through the WM distribution system to the first stores (and will never reach most of them, it seems).

The downside is that I doubt the Flight 19 Avengers will ever show up in WM, just like the P-38s never did (although for them, it's probably because there is no window box). I wonder if WM will carry anything lhat large again after what happened with the S1 Avengers. Time will tell...

I've always thought WM wasnt dropping the prices on them cause they would not sell - but just to clear them out - and they do not lose money - Avengers down to $35
baby diapers and a million other items up 1o cents

Must have been someone doing a return of the old plane in anticipation of the new retooled release. If done in the correct box, Wal Mart would never know

Yeah the S1 would be pretty easy to spot, brown double pane box, and about a million checkers on the nose vice the correct pattern. I believe it, anything is possible. I remember when I announced on the old board the first time seeing Putt Putt Maru (months ahead of expected release) at my local TRU, everyone thought I was seeing things, till I posted a pic that is...

Stopped by the Hobbypeople hobby store in Chino, Ca while on a weekend trip to So Cal. They had a pretty decent selection of 21c planes, including many new pieces like the Flight 19 Avengers, new F-104s and Pear Harbor P-40s, plus a couple old favorites like the FW-190 and CIA Huey. They also had a bunch of FOV 1:32 tanks as well. It was a much better 21c selection than what is to be found at my local Hobbytown USA store a few hundred miles to the north

The planes were all at the regular retail price.

Sweet!! Then I will keep an eye out for them here in Texas! When new items start to show up in OK then we usually start to see them south of the Red River!

The WM outside of Newark NY had a bunch of stuff on clearance yesterday for $5.00. It was all Humvees and the VN Mutts and Navy Seal Tactical jeeps. The only item I did not already have was the Seal jeep, which I was never that keen on, but what the heck for five bucks I picked one up. That store's in a fairly out of the way location or I'd snoop there more often.

I found two of them in Virginia Beach today! Bought one and didn't really check him out till I got home! At first glance I thought he was a German soldier with a Bazooka. Wish I had bought the other too!
Did pick up a Platoon Leader "Lt. Roger 'Tracker' Richards" which was the only one I thought I was missing from the last release! The WM also had two 1:18 P-51D Mustang "The Flying Undertaker."

RT spotter spotted amongst Easter Bunny battalion...

Post by c44 » Wed Mar 28, 2007 9:46 pm

I also picked up the arty officer tonight at a Suffolk WM, now he's all dressed up, nowhere to go...I won't be holding my breath for an East Coast appearance of the Flak or King Tiger...I have yet to lay eyes on the latest half-tracks...though figures have been plentiful, aircraft arrivals are spotty, vehicles non-existent...but if you want pool supplies or Easter baskets, the WM toy depts have 'em!
