MIG-21 and F-4 Phantom

Post by longrifle » Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:01 am

Needless to say many here knew I wanted a MIG-21 so badly, and I want to say I am so darn happy I cant help myself. Lets just hope 21st delivers, and real soon. I cant wait for this one.

As for the F-4--does anyone know which version it is? I wanted to make mine an Israeli version, I think they used the "E' Variant if Im not mistaken. The one in the 21st page looks like a "C or D" (no cannon).

If 21st gives us more jets, aside from Vietnam, Im hoping that we will also see a mig-17 and a Mig-19 as well. The 17 was real popular in Vietnam and the Middle East.
A Mirage III would be really cool, but Im hoping the F-4 version is one I can put Israeli markings on. But I dont think (no expert here) any of the F-4 in NAM had cannons so that eliminates the Israeli versions.
But they sure did use Mirage III ver effectivly in both the 67 and 73 wars against Mig-17,19,21's.
Wonder if an F-15 or Mig-29 are in the distant future?????

All F-4 made from both companies will be tooled to make different versions, but I think AT will make an F-4c first and 21st will have the F-4E first….I think, not sure.

The F-4E was used in Vietnam,so you should be ok if thats the model you need for your paint scheme.I would have to look that one up,or maybe one of the other guys could help you.

I will get both planes when they come out. :D But I tell you I wish that they would keep a lid on the intell untill they are ready to ship. I just don't want such a long drawnout ordeal like we had with the Avenger. THAT SUCKED !!! And when that plane came out I almost did not care.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

That's the downside, knowing that new stuff is planned and now we have to wait at least the year to see anything new (possibly) at WM.

I know in my website business annoucements of impending products reduces sales and customers decide to wait.

That is why there are so many repaints offered, keep income coming in while they tool up new stuff.

The time gives me a chance to focus on other projects.

To bad BBI cant get their Hellcat out in between 21C and AT new stuff.

with all the Vietnam stuff coming out this year maybe 21c will treat us to an SA-2 SAM missile set. Wouldn't THAT be sweet. Or maybe it's something AT could include with their F-4. It would certainly make it even more appealing.

Should 21c not go that route, one could perhaps make a SA-2 with parts from Estes model rockets. Assembled with care and properly painted and decaled, it could look pretty good and would have the added advantage of actually being able to fly

Estes still makes that starter kit with all the balsawood pieces and cardboard tubes needed to build a custom rocket, don't they?

i've tried.....the results are so-so and the launcher is trickier to make than it looks. Deserves treatment in plastic as it is the most significant and widely used surface to air missile in history. Shot down Gary Power's U-2, used in enormous numbers in Vietnam and almost wiped out the Israeli airforce in '73.
