Fireing Poses

Post by gk5717 » Tue Jan 25, 2005 9:20 pm

I worked tonight on fireing poses, got a semi fireing pose, not as good as previous figures, but it looks OK. Debateing if I should buy another case.
Overall the figures are really good, and the gear fits better than previous issues.
My main complaint now is no kneeling, sitting, or lying poses possible.
Having said the above, thanks go out to 21st for producing figures that were nothing but a pipe dream just a few years ago.

Just a though for you guy that want to fix the articulation problem. You could slit the seam on the side of the shirt. On Star Wars figure they have that for when the shirt is long and might work well in this case. and if it doesn't work you could always glue it back together.

and one last question- anybody tried switching heads?

like putting the marine heads on the old para bodies? I get the feeling that the marines might be too big? \

the vietnam figures heads fit into the paras bodies, but were just too big looking.

if anyone with head switching experience gets teh urge to but a marine head in a para body, let us know if it works and if they actually look good... or if they are too big/small etc.

marines

Post by HIDEOUS ONE » Wed Jan 26, 2005 5:26 pm

I was worried at first when i saw the flag carrier. Then I remembered I had spare hands. Good thing too cause I couldn't get any firing poses due to the angle of the right hand. Most first series hands fit perfect and even matched up nicely as far as paint goes. Some of the marine hands worked but for the most part i had to switch. I was also disappointed with the lack of a firing hand for the carbine guy. All in all these figures are the finest around in my opinion. Though BBI is almost caught up. The japanese are most impressive. Can't wait for some Brits and russians

well i'm posting the the first marine KIA,

tried to do a head switch, and since the joints had been moving really easy, i didnt use the old reliable standby of boil and pop, and broke the head off my flag carrier,

so everyone beware, they are a better quality, but still prone to breaking if not careful.

Finally got around to placing the figures in a sitting position - so they could ride in the bed of my new WC63. Slitting the shirt tunic along the button line and then using hot water to soften the plastic works well. Slitting the shirt can be done easily with a pocket knife and isn't very noticable at all!

Yeah, they can still sit even without hot water, but it takes a little more force to get them into position. I only used hot water on my first attempt at making them sit, however. The slitting of the jacket does the most help. Have a look at my results:

Just got my box of marines. They're cute....good custom fodder. The first series Germans are still the giants of the XD world though.

Now what do you mean by giants? The best figures, or the best custom opps? I do agree, however, the 1st series Germans are awesome - as are the US troops - but the Germans more so!

Just out of curiosity (and didn't readit otherwise) but do these guys have more removable accessories than past figures, or no? Seems like some of the bandoleirs of ammo maybe come off, but they could just be a very recessed sculpt that looks like it's seprate of the body.

I need to put in for a case... I'm trying to get a single order for everything at once though to save on shipping... Looking for some more BotB riflemen and Ardennes figures... Pain in the keister having to wait. Especially when the truck came out to only increase the wait for me. :P

The Marine figures do have alot of removable accessories; much more than the BoB figures and the first series figures and similar in number to the paratroopers. The bandoliers, grenades, and binocular case seen on the figures are not removable, but heavily recessed sculpts - that look wonderful! The helmets, packs, sidearms, knives, water bottles, small pouches, and canteens are removable. As has been complained about in previous posts, the flag cannot be removed from Sgt. Digger's left hand (though he does come with a spare right hand that has a cigarette) and the grenade cannot be removed from L. Cpl. Tommy Britt figure's hand.

Hmm, kinda like the German Tanker's love of those binocs I guess. :)

Nothing a razorblade can't cure I suppose.
