I display all my planes on shelves I made for them. I put the pilots standing by the side of each plane they came with. Where do you put the pilot? Do you have him in the aircraft? Do you display the pilot at all? I like the look of the pilot standing by the plane. It helps give an image of the scale of the plane.

They're usually in the aircraft, as the planes are hanging. However, with the aircraft I have on my display table, sometimes I take the pilots out and display them standing beside the plane, getting into the cockpit, etc. Sometimes I also have a "makeshift" groundcrew figure standing around the plane or assisting the pilot as well.

Mine are in the plane, however, the scale thing is a great idea.

I keep mine in the box . I have never put any in my planes. I think that I want to burn my T Terror pilot. That is the one who is a cross between the Avenger alien and some mutant. Of course I should put a stake in his heart first.

Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

It would be nice if someone made some GOOD pilot figures to put next to our planes . Most are subpar in my opinion.

By far the best pilots IMO are the BBI P-51 and Corsair pilots. The P-51 pilot is standing on the wing leaning into the cockpit the Corsair pilot is standing next to the plane. All the 21st pilots are in the cockpits. The ME-109 pilot looks like one of those animatronic puppets they use at Disney World.

The same as Sabrefan, my pilots are next to the plane, to show the size of the thing.

One morning I put about 20 XD figures (including pilots) by the coffee maker. All staring - waiting for a cup of joe. Except for straggler - German soldier lurking by the bread and banannas.
My wife woke me up to ask why.......

I have pilots in my planes that are hanging up but the planes that I have on my shelves have no pilots. I have a bag full of BBI and 21st pilots. To many to count but will come in handy when I set up a diroma scene featuring a favorite plane of mine in the future. The very near future that is and I wont say what plane that will be either!

Maybe you guys can speculate on what plane that will be?

Were the pilots on the Lou IV P-51 and the White 12 BF- 109 a little under scale?

Thanks,
You just need some tee-pee poles, a bit of fishing line, and a very windy day.
