Coreyeagle48 wrote:Greetings,

I think the Russian planes would be great as far as a collectors standpoint. I will not mention anymore because the good ones have already been posted as they would be the ones I would want too. I would add two more to the list, the I-16 (strange looking, unique airplane) and a Hurricane in Russian markings and possibly a P-40, they would be great additions.

I think the problem with making Russian planes is purely political. There are a lot of people out there that still view Russia as the Soviet Union and are stuck in the Cold War mindset. Recently around here, Mobil stations changed over to the Lukoil brand and people are boycotting the gas stations because they are quote "Run by the Soviets". Unfortunately, given the nature of the Cold War, I think it will be some time yet before people are able to put away the mindset that the Russians are not evil and the Cold War for almost all intensive purposes is over. I say almost over as there is still some issues that are ongoing that will take time to resolve.

Unfortunately people are not as historically intelligent as we are. While all of us appericate Russian airplanes and the contributions they made to our war effort, I feel the average public does not know a lot about this. They know a lot about our airplanes and German airplanes and Japanese airplanes. In this country, it seems our European theater and the Pacific theater are very popular. The Eastern front, and the men and machines that took part in those high casualty battles in the dead of winter deserve credit that is due. Without Russia's help, we would not have won World War II. Unfortunately due to world events after World War II, many people forget that.

I hope one day the companies we love take the chance and produce the stuff!

Regards

Corey
That falls in line with 21C not putting Swasticas on the German planes especially those that are sold at WM. Even though it's stated on the box
"Historicaly correct decals included". you won't find them in the box. :x :x
The war has been over 60+ years and we all know what a Swastica is and what it stood for but to leave it off of a model where it belongs to be politicaly correct is nonsence. :? :? The Russians had some tough looking airplanes especially the Yak and they would be a nice addition to anybodys collection. Have a good one. Sarge

I believe the MiG-15 is a success for 21st. I think they sold well in Wal Mart as well. So that shows 21st that the Red Star on a toy plane isn't a big deterrent to your average American Joe shopper.

Yep...a Sturmovik....the Panzers aren't so high and mighty when one of these uglies was bearing down on them. :D

Do you guys think the Mig-3 looks more like a P-51 or a Macchi 202?
