M2A1 105mm Howitzer?

Post by Dubar1 » Wed Feb 21, 2007 11:57 am

Has anyone done the 105 howitzer in 1:18??? If so, how good/accurate is the detail on the axle/equalizer support?

the only thing even close is the GI Joe mountain howitzer. Needs work to make a decent representative out of it.

PTE did a long tom with electronic battle sounds. The barrell is too short and muzzle incorrect. The tires would need to be replaced, buts its close. Aferg has customized one but I haven't seen anyone else post pictures of it. Might be worth checking out eBay for one since they are either sold out or over priced online.

Thanks guys!

I'm trying to make a 1/6 model and thought I could use a 1/18 model and measure it up. I have the 105mm gun, but need to make the carriage assy. All the pictures I've found don't show a lot of detail and from what I can see it's not a simple axle. There's a lot of welded on pads and machined surfaces that need to be duplicated and it's hard to see how the axle and equalizer go together.

You'd think every museum and VFW places would have one of these around, put so far I think the closest one to me may be in Aberdeen!!!

I am pretty sure that there is one at a VFW hall near me. It's a howitzer but I never had a chance to check it out.
