In response to Aferg's request for history.
The 3/4 Dodge Command Cars were used in ALL theaters. The official name was "Command and Reconnaissance Truck". The manual describes the CC as "to provide transportation for staff officers in the field".
Truck was available with a winch (WC-57) and without a winch (WC-56).
An antenna mount behind the driver was used in Radio versions. A very limited version (WC-58 I believe) had a huge command radio mounted in back of the front seat and was the width of the vehicle.
Vehicle was popular but early in it's history it became popular among the Germans also. When they saw one they figured a general is in that vehicle and targeted the CC. It became used by company clerks, anybody that wanted to use a vehicle, while generals used Jeeps.
After WW2 the Swiss and Germans used them for police work. The French used them extensively in their army and Foreign Legion in Algeria and Vietnam. The WC-56 I owned came from the French Foreign Legion.
From what I see of the pictures of this re-release, they haven't removed the armor shield over the radiator and .50 cal mounted on the running board and the air horns. These were Patton designs as well as the luggage rack on the trunk.
You might be able to mount a .30 cal on such a running board but a .50 cal would rip right off the running board if fired. My running board would flex when you stood on it, no way it would hold up to a big mg being fired from it.
My order is in, I love these Dodges, I'm glad to see them. I spent many hours in both (my buddy owned a WC-62) and if you don't mind life at 40 MPH these 50 year old Dodges will never let you down.

markings on the side
Haven't taken mine out of the box yet, but anyone notice the scribbles on the side of the truck right next to the middle wheel (in the box). Sorry, that is very descriptive, but its on the outside of the truck. I would think that 21st would actually take the time to get detailed with whatever is supposed to be written in there. Instead, it looks like I have some scribbles written in mine). I'm not meaning to complain, I swear I'm happy with it so far. 
I'm just curious what should be in there (probably "US Army, Ser. no., etc.") , and why it wasn't included in a more detailed fashion. Anyway....

The only difference between the WC-63 and the WC-62 is the winch.
The front of the CC WC-57 and the WC-63 are exactly the same up to the dashboard. There are frame extensions to accomodate the winch. If you want I'll give you exact demensions for both the WC-62 & WC-63 but the only difference is the front bumper. WC-62 has the bumper close to the body.

Looking at Digger's pics it struck me that as good as 21c is they do make obvious mistakes.
On the actual 1:1 truck:
The spare tire is mounted backwards. To hold the tire onto the tire mount it is mounted with the outside facing the truck. It is held on with a round disk about 8" in diameter and a piece of angle iron locks the disk in.
The mount is the same for the CC, and all models of the 3/4 ton and 1 1/2 ton Dodge have the spare tire on wheels mounted the same way.
Sorry. I'm not a bolt counter but this is bigger than a bolt.
Wouldn't stop me from getting more than one, just my two cents. I spent too many years avoiding that stupid tire or climbing around it not to be intimate with it.

i think it's good to have people with knowledge point out all the mistakes, big and small with a new toy (er, model). That way those less knowledgeable can make whatever changes they want to correct it or just leave it as is, but it gives options and makes us all more knowledgeable.

Have to vent, sorry guys....
I ordered my Trucks first thing in the morning Monday (yes, I'm crazy) from BC and I would have sworn the site said "shipping today" or something to that effect. I paid out the keester for Priority which is supposed to be 2-3 day. It now being Friday and no sign of them I'm a little annoyed.
I know they're in race with ToyFed to be first on everything - and I appreciate that they do go out of their way to get the stuff asap, but I sure hope they plan on refunding some of my shipping charge. Especially since it was completed inflated to begin with.....that'll teach me to be so impatient

I ordered mine on Tuesday, Jan. 25 and it shipped Wednesday, Jan 26 via USPS priority. BCA provided an e-mail with tracking number. I'm in LA and a package I just ordered from BCA took only about two days to get there last week via USPS Priority. The Build-a-Rama products I ordered to go with my truck at the same time I ordered the vehicle on Tues. arrived today (also via USPS), and they're from out of state! So, in response to digger's post, I know exactly what you mean! Oh well, I suspect that the truck will arrive tomorrow. If not, then I'll start to get worried.

hi all,
just got my vehicles in from BCA.
have to say the desert hummer is great - even better than the camo one. also almost matches the M113 color. and they put all the tow pieces in this time...i think. 2 figures are CIA and SF guy with all their gear. anyway pics are on link below.
dodge truck is also a nice piece. i like the "mud" color weathering but would have rather them used the weathering they did on the sherman, halftrack and jeep...but the truck still looks good along side 'em. just remembered i forgot to shoot the engine of the truck...ill try to get that in there too. as usual great stuff by 21st C. no QC issues that i have found. im happy with all 3 of them (even though i havent opened the command car yet).

Patton was a great general but he was also a showoff. He loved the attention, hence his revolvers (Colt .45 and SW .357) and his customized Jeeps and CC.
Patton did use the CC. Other generals also used them now and then but Patton liked his CC. Outside of North Africa, he was not directly fired upon. Like most generals his duties were behind the front lines doing general stuff. A few generals did spend time in the front lines and were loved by the soldiers for it by risking their butt along with the average Joe's. Most general officers including Patton were not loved by the men under them.
As for the 1 1/2 ton Dodge. It was used for all three and in all theaters.
The army tried different weapons systems mounted in the bed. The closest to production was a Quad .50 cal setup but with only two .50's. It worked great but was never put into production.
It was mostly used for cargo and to pull around a 57mm anti-tank gun. With the 10 foot cargo bed it was a natural to pull the gun and the entire crew, their equipment and ammo for the gun.
After WW2, again the French Foreign Legion used them extensively. I've got a neat picture of the FFL using it in the desert with a 57mm Recoiless Rifle mounted on a pedestal in the bed.
A great truck, and there's an old saying among MV collectors "Comparing Dodges to Jeeps is like comparing S_ _ t to ice cream"

Has anyone gotten the humvee yet? The box from 21st says M1025 w/ 2 figures and has the ID 10134 S2. Wondering if that's just a mistake.

...but arrived today and I must say the truck is very cool.My WC 63 arrived today. It a decent truck with some easy fixes to bring it up to another level. The truck has a bridge plate on the grill. It should be painted yellow with the number 5 in the center of it. The number is arrived at the total gross weight of the truck, that is the weight of the truck with the load capacity added to it, which on the winch equipped WC 63 is just a hair over 5 tons. You can hand paint the number as it will look more realistic that way. The winch can use more cable on it. I might try some lightweight picture hanging wire or some cotton string painted the appropriate color. The real cable would have about six feet of chain on the end with a hook. The other final fix that I am going to do is to turn the spare tire around .The outside of the rim should be against the carrier.
This truck has many great details such as the combat rims(rims that could be taken apart in the field with a wrench instead of tire prybars and sledge hammers, to facilitate fixing a flat) .The markings are good too. The hood star is upside down for a WW2 era vehicle and there appears to be some collection of "arabic scrawls" on one side of the bed. Otherwise the markings are fine. It is marked for the 29th Infantry Division, 121st Engineer`s Battalion, B company, truck 7. The M2 machine gun is excellent(why didnt they put the same one on the M113?) and the canvas and bows are well sculpted. The bows and canvas are one piece unfortunately as the canvas was often dicarded at some point or kept rolled down to conceal the contents. It has a excellent pioneer set and a nice pintle begging for a 57mm gun to be attached to it. Over all an excellent vehicle. Time for a 3/4 ton cargo truck or even an M37 for the Korean/VietNam eras...
