Which year had the most 1:18 scale aircraft offerings?

Post by CW4USARMY » Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:40 pm

I actually posted this on another thread but am curious enough to hope someone has the answer to this:

"This looks to be a great year for new aircraft! In fact, this may be the year with the most new types. Anybody know or remember a year that had more new types than this(other than repaints?)? I am really curious but dont know how to check. Hope someone keeps track better than I do
 "

I'll do my best with this - it is quite probably not complete. so someone may need to fill me in... As you mentioned in the above message, I've left out the repaints and focused on only the really new stuff. This means that for some years, there is actually less listed than what actually came out and quite often this stuff tends to overlap with release dates, especially given Wal Mart's distribution system. Anyways, here goes:

2000 -- 21c only:
S1 P-51D
Bf-109E
Panther tank
Sherman tank
Jeep
Kubelwagen
Set of 10 US & German infantry

2001 -- 21c only:

S1 UH-1C (with grenade launcher)

M3A3 Halftrack
SDK 251 Halftrack
Farmhouse playset

Set of 12 US & German Paratroopers

2003 -- 21c & BBI

M1025 Hummer
Navy Seal Mutt (unsure, could be '01 with the VN line)
P-47 Razorback (late '03, early '04)
AH-1W (late '03, early '04)
BBI:
Blackhawk
Apache
Littlebird
M1A1 Abrams
LAV-25

Motorcycle

Desert Ops figures
Seal Figures
Swat figures

2004 -- 21c & BBI:

P-47 Bubbletop
Bf-109G (late '04)
TBF Avenger announced

2005 -- 21c & BBI:

Japanese Figures
BBI:

2006 -- 21c, BBI, AT:
21c
TBF Avenger
Retooled P-51
F-86
Mig-15
Hard-top Hummer
Soft-top Hummer
WC-51 truck
Pak-40
Stuka zu Fuss Halftrack
Pioneerpanzerwagen Halftrack
M-16 Halftrack
RC Panzer IV
RC M113

2007 -- 21c, BBI, AT [known thus far]:
21c
ME-262
ME-262 Nightfighter
F-4 Phantom

BBI
Nightstalker Littlebird (out now)
Modern troops
WWII & Modern Paratroops
F6F Hellcat
AT
F-4 Phantom
SBD Dauntless
A-1 Skyraider

Whew! I've got too much to do to be listing all this  Let me know if I missed anything origional that was released in any given year. I've left out the plethora of repaints offered by especially 21c.

2003 & 2006 looked to have been the best years, and 2007 may very well beat those 8)

Tman,
Thanks for the list. You've got a much better memory than I do. I do think that 2007 is going to be the best year yet.

Thanks! Memory helped alot but I had to spend a while searching and in some cases looking at the dates listed on some of the products and then extrapolating from there. The card backs from some of the older figures also helped

Great job on the list, I think that 2007 is catching up to 2006 pretty fast.
