Your 2006 XD 1/18 budget was?

Post by Jericoeagle1 » Fri Feb 16, 2007 3:35 pm

I'm doing a study on how much we spend on our hobby. This is for 1/18 only no other scales please. I want to know how much of on average spend on the larger planes and armor. Please combine all sales from Admiral, BBI, and 21st. IF you post tell me how much you've spent on 1/32 for each company if you like.

I'll start out, last year I bought the following

3- F-104s

2-ME-262's

3-Mutangs BBI and 21st

2- Corsairs

1- Avenger

2- F-86 Admiral and 21st

1- Mig-15

1- Zero

2-F-18's

Several Figures of unknown quantity

I don't remember the exact figures but I believe it was slightly over a thousand last year. Most of these were purchased through BadCat, I never go to Walmart anymore for reasons we have all talked about.

Next year I suspect I'll pay more of the same with the jets coming out. I definately will buy multiples of the Skyraider, Dauntless, and F-4 right now that looks like all thats coming out this year. Of course I'll keep that spot on my wall for an A-10

2006 I got....
1:18 scale:
1 P-51 Mustang $40
1 BF-109 $30
1 P-47 $30
1 P-38 $70
Total for 1:18: $170. Since you said we could do 1:32 and other scales too, I got these in 2006..
1:32 P-47 $25
1:32 A6M2 Zero $25
1:48 P-51C Mustang $10

I am not going to add in the 1:144 scale planes. I got my Avenger and 1:32 dogfight set on sale in 2007. I am not hardcore into the planes and such, not cause I don't love them...but I am out of room. I am a diecast car collector too.

1:18 car collecter for years, turned very casual collecter of XD airplanes and a few groundpounders.

Just as long as you don't include my 1/6 toys, my 1/18 budget was somewhere arpund $300. 1/6 was around $12-1400. I really don't dwell on totals  Now 2007 could be a nightmare for 1/18 and 1/6.

Around $400.00-$500.00 for me. The 21C Kubelwagen cost a pretty penny when I actually found it from another seller. If I could have found more german figures, it would have been much more.

Since I really only started collecting in late 2005, 2006 resulted in an unusual bump to get things going. I've cut it to under ~$120 per month (including shipping and taxes), but 2006 went way over $1,000 if you include the online and ebay shipping costs and a handful of WallyWorld and TRU purchases that include pretty heavy sales tax 'round here.

But as I've mentioned before, the whole plan goes out the door if a B-25 comes into view.

The dream - a 1:18 Hornet carrier deck mockup with B-25s in position, to be donated to a museum.

About $800+shipping for me :?

I have 17 planes in total, 13 of which I bought in 2006. (4 in 2005)

Also, $70 worth of Land XD, Tiger, PPW, and M-16

So, about $870 + about $160 Shipping for 14 planes.

Shipping is a killer

Grand Total $1030  :?

Damn, I voted before I counted, anyway of changing it now?
I voted 500-1000, sorry

Um, Jericoeagle1, where did you get a Mig-17?

Its no big deal Moth surprised at the number of us who spend over 1000 dollars on the hobby. I wasn't expecting that.

I've already got the new Admiral 262 on preorder ad well as the Dauntless. If a prewar and army version come out of the Dauntless I'll pick those up too. When the Skyraider comes out I know I will get one Navy and One Air Force. If they come out with the Vietamese Version or the Navy Blue I may get one each of those as well.

I can see three F-4's as well Air Force, Navy and Israeli.

This year has seen the release of 3 of my top 5 of desired aircraft. All I need is an A-10 and F-15 to complete the list.

We counting what they would cost new (be it on-line or Walmart/TRU prices as appropriate), or what we actually paid, maybe due to a lucky sale or such?

Uh well---I am looking around my living room and I see 7 aircraft that I purchased this year. That doesn't count various ground vechicles and figs. And, so far this year I have dropped 250 at MTS (Isaiah & everyone else don't tell the wife) and another 100 at WM. So, I think I am in the 1000 dollar club.

It's pretty scary how many of us spent more than a grand on this stuff. Clearly I need some professional help. :D
