POST ALL NY TOY FAIR DISCUSSION HERE
The point is the company's are taking a huge risk making an A-10.
As they say, only 10% of sales comes from collectors (I refuse to beleive that), so they are sure at least 10% will sell. As I imagine, it will be at a $70+ price point, too much for BBI since TRU doesnt sell anything big from them, that counts out BBI. As I understand it, with the huge clearances on Avengers, they didnt sell well at $70. What makes you think the A-10 will sell well at $70, or even at $40? Why not make a smaller, cheaper plane, that is very popular, like the Mustang. It is simply better for the company to make small, popular planes. That said, I am assuming the next planes could be, Mig-21, late war Spitfire, F-5, Hurricane, Shinden-Ki, ect. Eventually, when they run out of planes to make (Looks like very soon) then we might see an A-10, but I image after an F-4, which IMO should sell very very well.
Views/opinons are views/opinons, like someone said, every body has an opinon, like everyone has an ass. I may be wrong, you maybe wrong, we will have to see, I just dont see an A-10 in the near future.

I second the motion on this! More retailers would equate more exposure to the markets for us and additional revenue for the three. In business you are either growing or dying!Morian Miner wrote:Biggest thing I'd like to see come out of Toy Fair is that BBi/21C/Admiral get picked up by another major retailer. Would love to see Admiral stuff in the stores, or be able to hunt for BBi and 21C at the same time in one store. I know this flies against comments Mike made about the declining interest by retailers in military toys, but maybe the whole anniversary thing with GI Joe could convince retailers to have a few planes or armoron the shelves with these guys.
The 'Hog is not exactly the favourite plane over here in the UK at the moment, one of our national "news"papers has managed to get its grubby paws on the HUD film from the two Hogs that shot up the British Army vehicles during the First Gulf War.tko211 wrote:Naw, it isn't being negative at all!![]()
I'm just being realistic. Based of the latest news/announcements I don't see an A-10 on radar this year from any of the builders.
Ouch. I feel for the pilots.

Most of the Admiral Toys' team leaves in two days for toy fair. I leave Friday night or Saturday morning. We are greatly looking forward to toy fair. It is a great time for manufacturers to finally meet face to face with many of our retailers. Most of this business is done over computers or on the phone. Doing business the old fashion way is a nice break. Some of you have seen most of the Admiral Toys team at airshows in Texas. We love getting out there shaking hands and meeting people.
Like I said in the past, our booth is SMALL. We would rather spend money on productions rather then on the glitz and glamour. But that being said, you will find that we still have new announcements in all scales. There will be something for all to see. From 1:72 to 1:32 up to 1:18 there will be something new. We have disclosed a lot this past couple of weeks. You have learned about the SBD and Skyraider in 1:18, but we have not talked about everything. We still have, what we consider, a pretty cool model in 1:18.
The one thing I am concerned with is the weather. It is in the 60s here in Houston. I noticed that the east coast is getting slammed by a cold front. Us southners aint accustomed to that kinda wetha.

Jason, no worries over the weather there on the east coast. Just bundle up!
I am sure what you guys have to display with all that has been mentioned to us from 1:72 to the 'unknown 1:18' yet will be great! I hope we here on the board will get to see photos of them all posted. Can not wait to see what all we get to collect in the next coming months!
In spirit of the theme with the announced SBD & Skyraider, All I can say to AT is "bombs away" next week!

In honor of the Douglas theme that Admiral Toys has coming out, I think that the next AT 1:18 AC that we will see at Toyfare will be any one of the following listed below. These are the most produced fighter planes that Douglas has come out with.
Fighters:
SBD A-24 Dauntless A-24 Banshee (Coming Out)
TBD Devastator (possibility)
AD (A-1) Skyraider (Coming Out)
F5D Skylancer (Posibility)
A-4 Skyhawk (Possibility)
F-4 Phantom II (McDonnell Douglas) (Many Rumors)
AV-8 Harrier II (McDonnell Douglas) (Possibility)
F-15 Eagle (McDonnell Douglas) (Possibility)
F/A-18 Hornet (McDonnell Douglas) (Will not duplicate in 1:1
F/A-18E/F Super Hornet (McDonnell Douglas) (Will not duplicate in 1:1
Of the Possibility list above, I believe that it could most likely be the F-15 since AT already has WWII, Korean, & Vietnam era planes in production or produced. They just may make the step in the Modern era.
The most likely suspect to be the third plane at TF this next weekend, will most likely be the F-4Phantom II as there is high rumors of this being produced.
It will be a F-4Phantom II.
Will they go the direction towards the Helocopter? If so, the Helo companies that are in conjuction with Douglas are listed below:
AH-64 Apache (Will not duplicate in 1:18)
CH-46 Sea Knight (Possiblity)
CH-47 Chinook (maybe too big)
RAH-66 Comanche (with Sikorsky) (Would be a nice compiment with the AH-64 Apache from BBI and AH-1 Cobra from 21st.)
V-22 Osprey (with Bell Helicopter) (Maybe too big)

Just think if Toy Fair was held at a Walmart here in Ohio...Here's what the coverage would be for 21C XD...
"Hey, wasn't 21C supposed to have new XD figures here? All I see are empty pegs on the shelves..." "No new armor either!" "And NO new planes."
Good thing Toy Fair is not at Walmart.
I now return you to the regular Toy Fair coverage....

Well, looked through the Hasbro and GI Joe stuff. Disappointed at the GI Joe pics. Faces are starting to look too cartoony - case of the Disney eyes, from the early pics. Star Wars - its hard to tell. Really looks like early protos that were hand painted, so everything looks a little rough. But, most of the figures this year aren't interesting me anyways.
So, its up to 21st and AT to bring some sunshine.

Sometimes, the mind needs a shovel, rather than a pencil and paper, to express itself.
i'm hoping to see some interesting new 4 inch lines from somebody, like the Terminator and Planet of the Apes lines we were supposed to get from Palisades before they went under. 4 inch Star Trek and sports figure lines would be great, but i don't think there is much hope of either.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
Hi,
First post.
probably you're already aware that George Lucas will make a movie called "Red Tails" based on the Afro-Americans fighters pilots (Bombers escort) in the WWII. Now, coming from ToyFair, 21st have announced they will make the P-51 Mustang from the movie.
"This, the first ever 1/18 scale model of a 332nd Fighter Group (Tuskegee Airmen) P-51, was exclusively made for Historic Aviation by 21st Century Toys! Amazingly detailed, it's got all the features you'd want: engraved panel lines and simulated rivets; a fully-outfitted cockpit with a sliding canopy; movable flight control surfaces; retractable landing gear with rubber tires; and external fuel tanks or options for bombs. -A must for any serious aviation collector.
The "Red Tails" were made famous by becoming the first all African American fighter group to train as pilot officers in the U.S. Army Air Corps. The pilot skill and fighting excellence that these brave young men displayed during WWII made them one of the most reliable bomber escort groups in the entire European Theater. The many successes of the unit made the Tuskegee Airman an unforgetable icon of military history. "
