I was unpacking my DJ Corsair and noticed these pieces.

I believe they are to convert the 3 .50cals over to 4 20mm cannons carried by the F4U-1C.

I've been hearing some glowing reports about this F4U and I'm soooo tempted to buy one but the only thing thats holding me back is that I already have Marines Dream and do I really need another 1/18th F4U? The guy at Military Toy shop said its an awsome looking paint scheme and its historically accurate on top of that. So I guess I will have to think about it over the weekend and make up my mind. But its tough.

Except figures. No P-51s no Corsairs nothing . When T R Us switched from 21st to BBI it was a sad day down here. I guess they are scared of getiing looted when huricane season comes around.

Skipping right over the F105 or F100 for the Phantom is not right, 2 companies making the same birds-jeezus. And what we would do without China, well I guess supporting the Red Army is the small price we pay to have our jollies.....
Well then you better get ready to puke because Old Crow and Big Beautiful Doll will be hitting the shelves soon from 21st.

I just purchased "Daisy June" today. I must say the nose art is quite detailed and it is a great paint scheme. I heard in a Bad cat news letter that this scheme is a fairly limited run... It is the first Corsair I have bought from BBI and it is no exception to their reputation for detail. My only contention is that I had quite a difficult time attaching the wing segments at the joints. However, I think it is a testament to the model's duribility that nothing broke during my battle to get them on.

The upgraded guns are fine but why no four-bladed prop ? And for god's sake why BBI and 21st seemed unable to make landing gears that are not total crap ?!?
They are wrong in every way, wheels (not the good design), tires (not the good design and they are too thin), and legs (a disaster).
So much work in a plane and finally a few "details" that ruins the whole thing...

I don't think this bird should have a 4 bladed prop.sicqnus wrote:The upgraded guns are fine but why no four-bladed prop ?...
You're right Digger. I thought the late 1945 Corsairs (six units) carried by the USS Block Island - VMF-115 were F4U-4. They were is fact F4U-1D - Fitted with six 12.7 machine guns (.50cal) instead of the four 20.0 canons fitted on the F4U-5N. The engine was a P&W R-2800 Double Wasp, 18 cylinders - Power: 2200 hp. The 1945 F4U-4A still got the six 10.7 m.g. but a new P&W R-2800-18W (2100 hp or 2450 hp with water injection - 32W), the F4U-4B got the 20.0 canons.
