Don't you hate that feeling of your heart sinking!
Sorry, I couldn't resist the opportunity to tease a little.

Now that 21c has been "scooped" on the Dauntless, they need to make a Japanese Val to represent the other side of the Midway clash. (I would say make a Kate, but since AT is doing one in 1:32, they might just very well go large on down the road...)

The Dauntless news is very cool. Since I'm now trying to limit myself a little and stay with jets, I may have to pass on it. May......for today. Good work Admiral.

I was checking back through old posts on the Direct From the Source:
--Posted: Sun Feb 05, 2006 9:22 pm Post subject: Welcome
"A while back, I e-mailed Admiral and got a nice reply.
I'm afraid this is my first time on this thread. But welcome to the fray, Jason and Admiral Toys! The F-86 looks fabulous and I'm impressed by the willingness of your company to correct an inaccuracy of the model. I know you are well on your way in planning your second 1:18, and I understand and respect your keeping it under wraps until you have it close to release.
I know you are getting bombarded with many good ideas for aircraft to represent. But let me get on my soapbox with my short list. And pictures are worth a thousand words!
Regards,
JimBob"

Here's an idea . . .
To lessen any possible (and previously mentioned) "scooped" feeling over this bird - I sure wouldn't mind a proper 1/32 scale Dauntless by 21st Century.
Wouldn't THAT help to make a perfect world.

JimBob55,
This one is for you. You have been very patient and a considerable friend to our company. I have wanted to tell you personally for quite sometime that this aircraft was coming out. We were working on it when you sent those emails and posts.
In fact I was going to use JimBob55 as one of my hints in a guessing game on this aircraft. (Yes... unfortunately I do think about what hints I will give on future aircraft.)
I hope you enjoy the SBD. It will be at toy fair next week.
Regards,
Jason

I won't read into it Jason, but I feel like if anyone can, Admiral Toys could do it for sure.
Admiral Toys gives us all great hope for the future of this hobby.

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

So I can say that if Birddog or I, along with about 25 others on this board, end up as a clue, there is hope for an A-10?

Jason:
Thanks for the kind comments. I greatly appreciate Admiral for going ahead with the SBD. I know that there are many others besides me that felt the Dauntless would be worth a 1:18 version. I hope this one will be a great success for your company! I had a feeling that a 1:18 Dauntless would be offered at some time, with a strong suspicion (and hope!) that it would be Admiral.
I've got my preorder in and I'm looking forward to the different versions. I'll probably end up with all version. I'm also excited about seeing the first photos from the toy show.
Regards,
JimBob

Jimbob I have one question does the SBD have folding wings?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

The Naval Aviation Museum is one of my favorite places to visit. BuNo 2016 was on view the last time I was there. They also had a great exhibit portraying the lake bottom with a Dauntless and I think a Wildcat in unrestored condition. Here's the skinny on their Dauntlesses:
