Hate to double post, however, the Japanese troops look very cool. Given that the pictures of the Marines on the back of the card look like the production figures, the Japanese troops may also be the production items! Hopefully we are not going to have to wait too long. For those members who perhaps haven't ordered the XD marines and seen the back of the card, here is a picture showing the Japanese troops:

Which figure didnt u get? If you order from BCA you get all 7 figures in the box of 12. And the cost worked out for me to be $7ea including shipping. I'm surprised Toy Fed doesnt give you all 7 figures as well in the 12 pack.

i blew up the pic of the japanese soldiers and they do look pretty cool. Two of them look like twins however (the two on the bottom left). I hope the officer comes with a sword, although i don't see one. Otherwise, quite nice looking variety in uniforms and weapons. Can't wait!

I think what TMan was saying is that he only ordered individual figures, not a set. I think.

US MARINES

Post by graycap » Thu Jan 20, 2005 2:21 pm

Living in the UK I'm quite envious of you guys who've got access to the new 21st century US Marines. They look most impressive. Full marks to 21st Centry for releasing the figures just in time for the 6oth anniversary of Iwo Jima.

I only ordered the individual figures from the Toy Federation and did not get the Lance Corporal "Tommy" Brit figure, as the expression was just too contorted. However, after seeing these awesome figures up close, I think I'll get it eventually!

I ordered my marines in the case so that I can make a wind-talker out of one and a medic with another. So when does the Pacific sherman surface?

Why 5 American and 2 Vietnamese Vietnam era soldiers? That's just the way they did it.

Got my Marines today. Good to see some nice figures coming out of 21C (following the M113 and modern soldiers). Now I really can't wait for the Japanese. The plus side of only six - two per case! BANZAI!!!!!

So, Questions:

Is there new knee art.? Meaning, is it the same type of C clamp on a bar holding the knee together or is it more like BBI where they have a pin going through two circles? Because some production photos looked like the pin, which i was excited about, but i haven't heard you guys say anything about new art.

Also: what is teh quality like? I think we all know the experiences with the paras (which i love anyways) you had about a 40 percent chance of getting a figure with arms that were on the wrong side, broken, warped, or knees that didn't bend well. And then the knees could break easily.

Is the quality out of the box better? And do you think the long term quality is better?

also... do the marines hands switch out easily? because if there is a grenade molded into someones hand... i will be changing that i think.

thanks

it's minus 22 with a blizzard going full force here....

anyway, are you saying there are no second pair of arms with each figure? If so that would be the first time 21c has released figures without spare arms. I love those spare arms and have had a thousand and one uses for them. This will be distressing if a new trend..

Extra Hands

Post by gk5717 » Sun Jan 23, 2005 8:32 am

I too was disappointed with the flag carrier not having a extra hand, but as stated before I,ve got bags of extra arms & hands and it worked out ok.
I got a set of 12 and I,m going to get one more set, really nice figures, now if we only don,t have to wait a year or so for the Japanese.

Hmmm... can I impose on someone with the figures and a digital camera...

can anyone show us exactly what their range of waist motion is?

Hearing that they cannot sit or kneel is very upsetting.

Can anyone show us the marines standing, kneeling, sitting... specifically i just want to see how much rang they actually have...

My reasons for this is.... Marines do things in combat besides prone and standing...

any help would be great!

Thanks a lot digger,

I really would love to see it...

I basically want to know how many cases to buy... if the range isn't good ill buy one of each fig or more... but if its good, then ill be getting a case or two.

also... anyone have comments on the .30 carbine? good bad? flimsy?... i didn't see anyone put up any detailed commments on it, but i could have missed it.

Marines, disappointed!

Post by gk5717 » Tue Jan 25, 2005 10:49 am

Bought the 12 figure case and was going to buy another, but here is my problem.
As stated before these figures cannot kneel, sit nor can I get them in a fireing position. Unless I,m overlooking a certain twist of an arm or joint, the only position any of these figures can get in to is a running or walking pose. The only fireing type pose is a shooting from the hip.
For me to buy more figures is a waist, any set up with upcoming Japs would require a few shooting poses.
Again. if someone has an idea let me know.

God... this is so dissapointing to me... I fear that if this is true (the art. problems)... BBI will be taking over...

this is very upsetting to me... i would much rather give my money to an amaerican company than a japanese one.

oh well

Articulation aside, the new Marines are still very nice figures, with some of the best sculpting and detail to date with 21st figures.

As far as how the weapons are held, most can be moved into a more or less correct position, and quite often it seems that firearms such as the BAR gun, the Thompson and the M3 "Grease Gun" were held at the waist since the weapons were designed more to spray bullets rather than hit a precice point on a target. Still, the extra arms would have been nice!

A solution to the sitting problem may involve slitting the overhanging portion of the shirt along the sides so that the front half can bend more easily. I did that with a Star Wars figure that had a stiff tunic and it worked well.

the arms look like they rotate at the bicep. This should allow them to be positioned into a firing position, at least as good as the non articulated molded arms of the earlier series, should it not?

well... has anyone tried doing the cut along the jacket line to see if it increases the range of motion any?

and if so... how hard is it and how good does it look/work?

I really want these figures, but it is so irritating, but the kneeling position and sitting position are common poses for me to display them in... cripes!
