25th Anniversary GI Joe

Yes, I know GI Joe doesn't fit too well with the rest of the nice 1/18 military figures out now. But hopefully we see a couple new figures along the lines of Major Barrage - decent sculpts that are usable for customs. And from a GI Joe fan perspective, hopefully no 6Sigma or VvV sci-fi garbage that is too far out in fantasyland.

We can only hope. Some reworks of classic Joes from the early 3-3/4 years would be cool, back when there was at least some token nod to reality.

I'm looking forward to these as well. Hopefully the sculpts will look good and the articulation will be well blended into the sculpts. Can't wait to see them.

Realistic Joes would be nice 8) and hard to believe that the origional 3 3/4" Joes are now nearing 25. Glad I didn't destroy the ones I have! A few days ago, I had fun telling a 13 year old (and very intelligent) student of mine about how cool the old GI Joe was and how much the new stuff sucks! Afterall, there hasn't been anything like the Defiant or USS Flagg for 20 years! (I kept mention of XD down to a minimum as I don't need any more competition in my AO  )

I always figured sigma sucks - six i mean six - was sort of a pause - so everyone runs toward the new stuff when it hits the shelves.
Also it had a lot of little kids interested -

I really hope to see a new cobra trooper with the helmet from the comic three pack and gas mask - but with the normal mask.

I still figure 3 sculpts of Duke and Snake Eyes

Please, oh please, let there be a new sculpt german shepard in the bunch. Give me that, or finally a decent articulated dog/wolf  :D  :D

Then, just throw a huge changeup and give us a new Cobra Rattler - but make it an almost 1/18 (hey, I'll settle for ballpark now) Warthog!!!

And people wonder why I still hold on to my Rattler and Night Raven (and Phantom). They are still cool, and the Rattler is probably the closest we will see to an A-10 anytime soon :(

Exactly! Most of those older GI Joe planes and helos were the greatest with all the detail and moving parts - until XD  I'm not getting rid of my Rattler, Conquest X30, Night Raven, Night Boomer (Skystriker), and Crusader shuttle any time soon!

I cannot wait for these as well. I love the new skin tones and head sizes on the Comic 3 pack and convention exclusives. I wish they redid them all, or at least the main characters as long as they stop making Duke and SE.

Agreed, 25 new figures might inspire some new vehicles or accessories that would help Joe and XD fans out. This should be interesting..

Oh and Tman...

Well joe is what got me into 1:18 so i will be looking forward to these new figures with alot of anticipation. i am hoping that they will be in line with the comic packs that contained a number of cool figures. There is talk on the joe boards of a more microman style body if it is true that could be quite interresting if done right.

I am hoping that these figures will come with some new accessories rather then their usual reuse of the same accessories.

I hope these 25 figures are a success as another avenue for 1:18 items is always appreciated. :D

I bought a ton of the six packs that came out in recent years. Some of the new takes on old classics were really cool. I love the Vipers. My first GI Joe was the Wolverine rocket tank with Scarlett? back in 1984. GI Joe lost me from about 1988 on with all the lame neon colors and stupid looking sci-fi vehicles. Glad they dropped that part.

And Sigma Six is crap. Just a ploy to try to attract all the Japanese anime freaks.

I just hope Hasbro uses the same size ball-joint in the neck/head to make customizing easier.

Really dig the SS. Keep your eyes open - there should be one new picture each day. I'm guessing Duke or Snakeeyes today

May just find myself rebuilding part of the collection that I cleared out a couple years ago, but this time "new and improved" :D

I wonder what the list of 25 would consist of? I am thinking of the following because they appeared in both the comics and cartoons when the line first came out:
Storm Shadow (Obviously)
Duke
Snake Eyes
Scarlett
Hawk
Stalker
Clutch
Rock 'N Roll
Breaker
Flash
Steeler
Short-Fuse
Grunt
Grand Slam
Zap
Airborne
Doc
Gung-Ho
Wild Bill
Ace
Cobra Commander
The Baroness
Major Bludd
Destro
Cobry Infantry

I don't get why Hasbro puts all that effort into improved figures, but still gives them P.O.S. weapons (aside from cost savings from reusing existing molds). Hasbro should just get Marauder John as a subcontractor.

I have to admit that Storm Shadow is a damn cool figure no matter how you slice it. :P The Duke I could live without - not only the gun as mentioned but he's got big robot like boots and in general I find the less fantasy involved in a Joe character the more I want XD & bbi guys..

As for the articulation it is great. Note the knees - this is something that should be explored by 21C and bbi. I also see a mid chest joint on SS which may not be needed but is cool nonetheless...

We do need a good Wild Bill for the BBI choppers.

Just tried the link in the top post in this thread but got "news item you're looking for isn't here any more"...

All I got when clicking on the link at the top was the 6Sigma stuff
