Thanks to some creative thinking and recon by Morian Miner in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=6558&highlight=potc
I was able to create these custom Viet Cong figures. Would prefer to swap out the captured M-16 for an AK but haven't ordered them from MJ's yet.
These were assembled from a POTC3 Huang, Elizabeth Swan, and an original 21st Century Viet Cong.

Grunt,
Those look amazing!
The girl reminds me of the actress in Rambo III in Vietnam.
You need a motorscooter and an AK-47 and you will be all set!
Really nice work.

Nice one, grunt. Didn't think of using the Elizabeth for a VC. May have to try that one.
Did you end up shaving all the details off Huang's shirt, or do you have the vest covering the details?

Thanks guys..
For Huangs torso I peeled off the upper armor and had intended on filing down the rest or using the 21C VC torso, but the vest that comes with Elizabeth(I think) worked perfectly and even has two slots for RPG rounds or grenades.
The 21C VC arms fit perfectly..
Elizabeth is her upper torso and skirt with Huangs legs and feet/sandles.

These were all over about a week before Christmas (Wallyworld, Target, and TRU). Since then - nothing except some of the other new POTC crap. Then again, they are supposed to have some contest that ties in with these figures, and nothing is on their website. I'd expect them to start showing up again by Feb.

I've noticed that only the Target stores in my AO have the newer POTC figures with the coins. The WM's still all pretty much have whatever the last wave was of the Dead Man's chest figures.
Elizabeth appears to be the peg warmer and I'm having trouble finding Huangs so either there aren't many or since he is a new character, he's a hot property. ::shrug::
Fun stuff though..

Added a third Viet Cong soldier to serve as cover and an ammo carrier for the RPG.
