new 21st

Post by FETCO » Wed Jan 05, 2005 12:18 pm

I don't have a photo of the Jagdpanther but the 88mm and APC look really good. I hope we don;t have any problems like the new 1/18 items.
I think we all have been waiting on some artillery and lets hope they do more. Tom C (fetco)

32X

Post by cruizin2000 » Thu Jan 06, 2005 11:24 am

Tom,

yes, arty would be nice. Some of the more popular/common guns would work.

I'd love to see more 32X figs. Any nationality with a WWII theme. Russian, Japanese, Afrika Corp, etc.

I'd just be happy with any new 32X troops/armor.

That 32x M113 looks simply awesome - almost better than the 1:18 one! A full interior will be a first for 32x vehicles. Now what really sucks is the "no figure" feature! The Jagdpanther should come with at least two to fit in the hatches and the 88mm Cannon could at least come with some troops or those sitting figures! I can understand why no figures for the M113, but one could have a couple of the WWII US figures runing out and though not accurate, it wouldn't look that bad! Still, I can't wait!

I dont collect 1/32nd scale but that M113 looks nice enough to get. I only wish the 1:18 scale had all the extras and looks of this one.

absolutely! sign me up for as many of the M113's I can find, love the detail, if in fact they stick to the detail shown in the prototypes, excellent for customizing. They'll fit right in with the new FOV pieces.

It does drive me crazy when the 32x is more detailed or more complete than the XD

Thanks for the photos. I usually model just WW2 US stuff, but that M113 is pretty cool stuff. Just needs the side guns and shield to make a full ACAV - wow!

I have to admit that the German 88 AAA is pretty cool also, especially since the prime movers are already available. Nothing like having artillery and no way to move it.

Excellent news on the figures - I just couldn't understand (initially) why on such great vehicles 21st would suddenly change their standards and not include at least one figure! Seems like that was a blooper, thank goodness. I wonder what the figures with the M113 will be like? Are we due to get some 1:32 'Nam figures?

I got my M113 and 88mm Gun from BCA today as well!! These things are simply awesome, and the M113 ranks as being one of the best 32x vehicles to date! With my two vehicles, there were none of the quality control issues that there seem to have been with the recent 1:18 releases. Here's some detail photos I've posted of the 88 and the M113, so one can get a little bit better look than the promo pictures:

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/shampts@s ... /my_photos

My Opinions:
M113
This is how the 1:18 version should have been done!! This is, with out a doubt, a far superior replica than its 1:18 cousin, and I really like the 1:18 version! All the detail is there - stowage, accurate Viet Nam Paintjob, full engine with radiators, all the seats and driver's controls. This is a perfect example of what 21st is capable of doing when they put their mind to something - it simply blows anything by FOV out of the water! The hatches and other functions work like on the larger M113. Best yet, the crew is in 'Nam era uniforms (I thought we'd just get recycled WWII crew figures). One can stand in the hatches, the other has a wierd arm pose and I'm not sure what he's supposed to be doing. It may have had a gun... The main hull is diecast, with plastic accessories and hatches.

88mm Flak Gun
This is yet another awesome piece and is also one of the most detailed 32x vehicles! All the little handles, wheels, cannon parts, and the lot are included. There's even a working trailer hitch and barrel lock. The fully assembled cannon rolls nicely and hooks together sturdily. The gun piece rotates and elevates well. You have to detach two screws to seperate the trailer pieces, and 21st has provided directions for this step. The legs for the Cannon piece are a little stiff, so watch out. The figures are cool in that they represent gun crew and aren't just some random soldiers. They are less detailed and much more toyish than other 32x German vehicle crews and soldiers. All in all, great products yet again from 21st!

BTW - KRW190, could you provide a detailed review for the Jagdpanther? How does it compare with other 32x German vehicles?

The Jagdpanther is nice for the money and you get 2 Russians with it hope this a sign of things to come all in all I like the FOV better 21st is to plane its like there Panthers in detail. On the other hand the 88 is just awsome best detail so far for me in 1/32 scale from FOV and 21st I got 2 of them 1 in transport 1 fireing up and the good thing is it hooks up great with the primemover and looks right at home with it.

Pretty cool. The 88 looks good...better than i expected. What's with the weird little shell loader on the back of the barrel slide though? I've never seen that on an 88 before, plus it looks like it's sitting up too high to be of use anyway. Probably a good idea to remove it.

I like that the barrel isn't molded in 'recoil' like the pak 40 was. The paint job looks good too....better than the promo pics.

Tamiya makes a figure set called 'german artillery crew' or something like that which is 8 or 10 figures molded in the various poses an 88 crew would take. Though it's 1/35 scale i suspect the figures will work well with this piece.

The M113 looks good too; and i agree, this is the way the 1/18 version should have been (but i do like the 1/18 one nevertheless) :)

Cold Steel?

Post by Sgt. Stryker » Wed Jan 19, 2005 1:03 pm

Where is the "Cold Steel" on the Flak 88mm? It had better be with the barrell.
If the gun is plastic and warped like that of the 21C Pak 40, then I would rather spend $79 on the true diecast Minichamps 1:35 item.

Stryker,

The "cold steel" is on the fenders and the gun shield. It's still pretty sweet though.

The Russians with the Jagdpanther are kind of "toyish" like mentioned above but atleast they're being made for us. I hope that this is just a preview/test run for some upcoming Russian figure sets. Perhaps a new "playset"? That would be awesome. 21st did say that there would be some surprises this year.

After all of the horror stories posted here about the FOV Jagdpanther, I'm pretty happy with the 21st version and I'm glad I waited. $16 for 21st or $42 for the FOV - you can get 2 21st for that price. Sold!

The 88's barrel is plastic, but not warped. All in all, my 88 and M113 were in perfect condition without any of the QC issues that have plagued the recent 1:18 P-47s, FW-190s, and Panzer IVs. The M113 with the full interior is simply amazing when compared with its 1:18 cousin. As we have seen with other releases, why 21st can make vehicles in one scale so great with the same vehicle in another scale not so great is beyond me.

2005 1/32 Cold Steel arrive.

Post by FETCO » Thu Jan 20, 2005 1:02 pm

Just received the new M113 APC, Flak 36/37 88mm and Jagdpanther. They are very nice, I was a little surprised to find the Jagdpanther came with some really cool Russian Troops I hope we will see more also . The crew for the 88mm gun has a loader and rangefinder. The M113A2 has Vietnam era crew. At last some Artillery. Photos up on site later today. Tom C (fetco)
