Hi guys,

a friend of mine will go tho NY in january and I have asked him to bring me back some stuff. Can you tell me which store are selling XD stuff in New York ? Also, what is the pak gun code ?

Guess what. No Wallyworld's at all in NYC at all. Only in the burbs.

Bummer.

We're still trying here on Staten Island to get one but the unions have the city politicians by the throats. Not much chance in the near future.

Wow, you'd think Walmart would have a least a few BIG Walmarts in NYC!Wonder if the little business guys and the politicians are keeping them out.
Don't feel bad though, here in the Cleveland area there are WM's ALL OVER and MOST if NOT ALL, only have a handfull of XD or NONE at all!!

Little business has little to do with it. The unions hereabouts are going full bore against Wally because it's not a union shop. The unionists have been crying that Wally will kill small businesses because they think the dumb public will feel sorry for them. I believe most people are like me. If I have a choice to buy my socks from a small store or I can buy from Wally, the same brand socks for a couple of bucks cheaper, I'm going to Wally. Buisiness is really business. If a small store has something to offer, they will survive.

In my town we have a small hardware store. One of two here on Staten Island run by the same family. Store is in a crowded small strip mall. Last year a Home Depot opened less than a mile away. Is the little guy hurt? Not this little guy. Why?

#1 - You park your car in front of their door and walk in and directly to what you want in 3 or 4 minutes. In Home Depot, it takes a few minutes just to find a parking spot, then a 3 or 4 minute walk just to get to the front door, and then 5 minutes or more to wonder up aisles to get what you want.

# 2 - Service. My small store always has a "Hello, can we help you?" then they will take you direct to what you want. Don't have it? They will order it for you and call you when it arrives (and they DO call). And the little guy has the same help they have had for years, and they know their stock. Try finding help in Home Depot. Even if you find somebody who didn't work in a Burger King yesterday and can't tell the difference between sheet rock screws and a 2 by 4, you are lucky to find what you need "in stock" and not thrown around and in mixed boxes.

My little guy is competing against Home Depot and Home Depot doesn't even know he's alive. Everybody is happy.

Sorry for the rant, but like I said, if you have a good product, great service and fair prices, you will survive and do well. Unions don't want you to even compete.

TTT: Amen to that! We have a couple small hardware and electronics/appliance stores around here like that, despite a Lowes, Home Depot, and a Best Buy. The appliance places love Best Buy--they get a lot of customers that went to BB, couldn't get knowledgeable help or were outright misinformed, and prefer to pay a little extra (if at all) to deal with someone that can help them and will remember them a year later.

On another note: are there any decent hobby shops that you know of in the NYC area that carry XD stuff that you can recommend to our Belgian friend? It might not be as cheap as Wally, but it's still a lot cheaper than shipping it.

Worst Buys is another example of sales help that worked on KFC yesterday, and when hired by Worst Buys they took an aptitude test that had two pictures.....one of a stereo and one of a Boeing 747, and they are asked....."Which does Worst Buys sell?". If they get that right, they are hired.....Not everybody passes the test.

On Staten Island, we have two decent hobby shops, one is a train store, and one specializes in RC. Neither has any XD. I use them only for model paints and building supplies.

i was in Manhattan last month and couldn't find anything Xd related some 21st century though and quite a lot of PTE
(grabbed a blackhawk at Times Square TRU sor 9.98$ actually)
