Thanks for offering your comments, Jason. I'm not sure how leading a bunch of people down the garden path for a week is helping to promote a new product (line) in a positive light, however.

When it was clear that EVERYONE was under the impression what we were guessing on was a 1/18 scale airplane it would have been decent of you to point out it was not, or at least tell us not to assume it was. Indeed those comments should have preceded the game, in my view. Instead you encouraged the belief with follow up comments and with a lack of clarification.

The guessing game was fun.....for everyone. It just seems a shame that there was a (very avoidable) let down at the end of it, taking the wind out of most everyone's sails, as it were. I'm sure the 1/32 scale guys will be excited once they find out about it, though, as i'm sure they would love to see if produced, should Admiral decide to do so.

As you know, Jason, i've been a big supporter of both you and Admiral Toys, both on the forum and in our emails back and forth, and that won't change. I'm just a little disappointed in, and somewhat puzzled by, the way you lead astray several hundred of your most loyal fans..

For all those that saw my unedited post in the last 10 minutes. Sorry, you are not allowed to play the guessing game in the next couple of weeks.

But I will warn all of you now. The next guessing game aircraft is in 1:32. So if you do not like 1:32, do not play.

The Kate is 1:32. I am sorry but I cannot say if it is being produced in 1:18. I have reasons for my nondisclosure. Sorry friends, this is the world we live in.

But I promise that you will not be disappointed at toy fair. You will be impressed, I hope. :(

Happy Holidays,
Jason

Jason, I hope you won't go away.

I'm saying this as someone who fairly early on figured out the game, (look at my posts, I was rather fund of the Shakespeare quote.)

I found it entertaining and liked the fact you came up with a reason to dust off the books and go through them again.

Just because the solution isn't the one being looked for, it was still out'n'out fun.

Enjoy the holidays.

NSS

I think we should hang him! :x No… Burn him at the stake! NO… stone him! No… excommunicate him from the board.

Or we can just forgive him and look for the most obvious hint of all. HE CHANGED THE FORUM from 1:18 to direct from the source the day he started talking about the Kate.

Andrew, now you see why in our private email, on my account, that I requested that you move the thread out of 1:18. I told you on Monday that you would understand at the end of the week why I did not want this posted in 1:18.

I am starting a new rating system. Much like G, PG, PG13, and R ratings, I will post 1:72, 1:32, 1:18 or NSS (Not Scale Specific) at the beginning of my posts.

Regards,
Jason

I did understand, after the folding wing pic, that the game was the chase. You were showing us several new items, all of which was most welcome.

Uhh and you did see the kill the lawyer statement was a joke, right?

uhh, right?

Jason,

I enjoyed the guessing game as well no matter the scale. I appreciate all the hardwork that you and the folks at Admiral Toys are doing. It's nice to see one of the heads from one of the companies that produces the aircraft we collect taking time out of their busy schedule to talk to us. And on a fairly regular basis. Very commendable if you ask me.

I have seen more great conversation and analyzation come out of this game/anouncement than any other anouncement from any other company. On with the games, I have a feeling that after Toy Fair no one will be complaining.

Thanks again.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!

Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Yes Chunks, I laughed. :D I usually do not let much get to me. I steam for a minute, usually write a response, and then delete it before I post it.

If you remember the comments about Smiley the unfortunate F-86 pilot, I laughed along with those as well. Though I still get a kick out of him/her!

Jason

Jason, Well, I was one of the lucky - or unlucky :? - ones who read your unedited post, and I think you made valid points that are conveniently overlooked by some boardmembers. I appreciate you VERY much posting to this forum, as I have stated before in the the board and personal e-mails, and I hope this experience hasn't soured you too much from coming back frequently. Speaking solely for myself, I enjoyed the 'guessing game' and it honestly doesn't make that much difference to me what scale these models are made in - I'm just happy they may be made. AND that there is a company with representatives who think enough of the buyer to include us in the process. Thanks, happy belated birthday, and Happy Holidays.

This might give you a chuckle too. While looking for a quote from you I puzzled about the footnote you left once that said, IIRC "I love these smiley things". I'd convinced myself that you were leading to a DR-1 with it's cowling!!!

I'm a little dissappointed that the Kate is not 1/18th scale. However, if the 1/32nd scale line allows your company to sell more product and become a stronger company then I know a lot more 1/18th scale aircraft and maybe armor will be coming down the assembly line. You did have the nads to produce a new and unusual aircraft. I would not be surprised to see a 1/32nd scale bomber produced by Admiral Toys before 21st Century does.

I have a feeling that people who commented about being disappointed were just that, disappointed. It happens and is nothing personal. I for one was disappointed in it not being a 1:18 model, after all, this did start up in the 1:18 forum. To Jason’s credit he had the thread moved when he realized that people were overwhelmingly thinking it was a 1:18 aircraft. Some, me included, were a bit let down by the news. I think it’s great that you (Jason) come here and discuss the on goings and development ideas with the collecting community. I by no means wish you to stop posting or visiting the site and I hope none of my comments contributed to your earlier post. Like I said, just a bit disappointed. That of course could be rectified when you finally decide to make it in 1:18.

How about a guessing game on your upcoming 1/72 tanks? It's been real quiet about those.

im impressed, how many 1:32 scale craft have gone to moving parts?!
i have always wanted to start collecting 32nd cuz its smaller..
maybe with some moving parts, Admiral will finally reel me in..

i was never THAT interestd in a Kate anyway, if it had been a modern done in 32 instead of 18, might be different, buts its nice to see growth from a company that seemed to sprout out from the forums lol

Well everyone will be plesed to know that 21C just informed me today that they are already under way with a 1:18 scale Kate for all the outraged fans! JUST KIDDING!-

Come on it was kind of a funny joke...

21C should be ready to announce an all new 1:18 scale airplane or 2 during the week of Toy Fair... Sorry but it will not be a Kate! Something else though!

I think they should do an F4F Wildcat in 1/18th. Now that would look very nice parked next to the Avenger, Corsair and Hellcat dont you think?

Jason,

Just to clarify for the sake of curiousity, those other pictures you showed us after the first hint, were all of those 1/18 or 1/32? I'd buy a tomcat in either scale, but if that was INDEED a tomcat panel I guessed right on in that one picture, I'd absolutely love it if it were in 1/18!

Also the plane to be unveiled near feb14...is it 1/32 or 1/18? You said the next guessing game would be for 1/32 but I wonder, is it pertaining to the plane to be unveiled after that date? I'm just confused!! hehe.

BTW Tomcats are awesome and would sell especially well in va beach....since oceana is right around the corner. It being the biggest tomcat base and all.

And being that BBI has a legacy hornet and has no intention of making a super hornet, what is admiral's stance? Would you consider making a F/A-18F? Are 2 seat jets guaranteed sellers for you guys?
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

I just can't see Admiral doing an F-14 if they refuse to do an A-10. Engineering the swing-wings would be a feat considering the size of the aircraft. I think the panel is of an F-5 in 1/18.

As far as the "guessing game" is concerned I think we are partially to blame. We always demand more news and the company's have to be secretive so I think its a good compromise. However, personally I think this one went a little far.

I support all the companys buying products hoping to see the ones I really want produced. Its a let down to find out its yet another luftwaffe or other aircraft. No offence guys but I've bought more ME-109's and Fw-190's then I can live with, and now ME-262's too. Not to mention Mustangs, Corsairs, and Thunderbolts.

I just would really like to see something spectacular like an F-4 or A-10. The Jet line has been great and fun to collect and I just would like to see more attention given to this line for a bit.

i think Admiral's main hesitation over doing an A-10 is not size or complexity but that they feel that either BBI or 21c may be bringing one out and that makes them nervous because such an expensive aircraft doesn't really want duplication and thus split market share.

From what i have seen of Admiral's work i don't think complexity issues are a problem for them. Their engineering seems to be first rate and they would be quite capable of making either the A-10 or F-14 with no problem, should they decide to do so.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
