Re-issues/Variants....etc
Yet another wish-list. With 21 Century's recent offerings of the M-16 Multiple Gun Carriage and the Hanomag variations. What other variatants or modifications could they make on existing models that people would be interested in purchasing? I'd actually love to see new armor and support vehicles. But, if they already have the moulds to work with....why not?
Since the Multiple .50 Cal Machinegun mount on the M-16 is removable. I think they should consider making an M-51 or M-55 trailer to mount it on.
If they were to consider producing the Kubelwagen and MB Jeep again. I'd want them with the canvas top on. Also, one set for European theater and another set for North Africa. A Jeep done in the SAS mode would be cool.
The Sherman tank to be modified into a Firefly or other variant?
Any others?
Cheers

a Hanomag drilling would be top of my list. Jagdpanther would be next and if we're getting that extreme a Priest as well. US halftrack with howitzer mounted on it would be fun too.
But i really hope for all new pieces. KT, Stug III and T-34 are all very long overdue.

I mentioned this in the 21st Q&A thread, but I think the Howitzer should get a series much like the PAK 40 did. I can see a reissued halftrack with howitzer, a stand alone howitzer, and the priest using the same cannon and the sherman body.aferguson wrote:... if we're getting that extreme a Priest as well. The possibilities are endless and I hope that the latest PAK/halftrack line was successful enough for 21st century to try this.

Under the "like to see, ain't gonna happen", I'd like a MiG-15UTI (hey, they saw combat in a few rare instances) or a rerelease of Kubelwagen. Having mod'ed a Kubel to make it more figure friendly, 21C could easily reuse the existing mold. But, I think TKO has said management isn't going to do that. Oh well.
Or, how about giving us that Vietnam patrol boat we saw a few years back? Or some of the Vietnam buildings?

My mistake. I thought they had said they didn't want to. Although I would think injection moldings are metal, and wouldn't be harmed by a fire. Maybe they'll remake it someday.ogravl wrote:Morian Miner, I belive TKO said that the Kubelwagen mold was destroyed in a fire. So there is no mold to make any new ones.

A building fire would be more than enough to melt, crack, or at least severely warp a mold used for injection molding plastic. I have burned brush and scrap wood here on the farm and it gets more than hot enough to melt glass and iron.Morian Miner wrote:My mistake. I thought they had said they didn't want to. Anyway, looking at some of the recent improvements that 21st has achieved in detail and such, I would love to see them do new versions of some of the older vehicles, such as the Kubelwagen and the Panther. They could easily use an existing Kubelwagen as a base for creating new tooling, which would save a lot of development time.

I noticed the Stuka halftrack has a new two piece drivers compartment top and front. I am thinking maybe they will make the 251/9 with the short barrel 75mm mounted in the front plate.

How about some of the 500 different variations of the Sherman.
M-10 3" Anti tank gun
M-32 Wrecker with the A-frame boom and the neat 81mm Mortar on the front plate.
Two really neat Prime Mpovers:
M-34
M-35
Of course with those you need something to pull
M-30 Cargo Carrier
M-12 155mm Self Propelled gun
Of course, I was kidding with "500" variations, but there were many, many variations of the same tank with the same chasis.

Speaking of Sherman variants, how about the mine flayer version? Probably not the most practical version to create a model of, but still very cool... More practical would be the flamethrower variant with towed fuel trailer.
So many variations... so few modelmakers... I still keep hoping for a Jagdpanther or at least a Stug...

Mk IV conversion
Or how about a Bruumbar off of the Mk IV chassis?
agreed......but my bet is that a wirblewind willl be the first variant on the panzer iv chassis 21st makes (aside from the short barreled r/c version they just released). Eventually i hope we see that plus, mobelwagen, brummbar, jagdpanzer iv and be still my heart, a hummel.
This upswing in armour we've seen recently with the paks and tracks has breathed new hope into me where 1/18 armour is concerned....after countless years of waiting. Can't wait to see what goodies 21c has in store for us in '07.

i've been expecting a jagdpanther for years; seemed so logical since it was half built because they had the panther already. It seems like 21c has something against the Panther. No jagdpanther and the panther itself has never really been easy to find. Shermans and Tigers abound in many issues but the Panther remains a bit of a rare duck.

Thanks, I was afraid Old-Timers disease was setting in.aferguson wrote:jagdtiger had a stretched chassis...around 4 or 6 inches, iirc.
Hummel had a stretched hull.....running gear the same length but the hull was stretched to make a larger fighting compartment due to the large gun.
