I am sort of disappointed, I dont know why they chose this, of all the undone aircraft, oh well.
Damn, I should have ordered Admiral's 262 when they were around $40 at BadCat's

Your right, they do, guess I was going by location. I don't recall the name but your entirely right about the AA. They aren't the Walther RATO common to the time.aferguson wrote:yes you called it, right after i did......lol.
I don't think those are RATO pods. Look like air to air rockets to me. Drop tanks a nice touch. I don't think the nightfighter carried bombs but they are a welcomed extra for sure.

I'm happy for those looking forward to this release . But after years of buying repaints of aircraft to support 21st I'm disapointed as well. I'd really like to have seen something truly different for a change. So I'm going to pass on this and any other repaints that come along. I think its a better idea to buy only the aircraft I really want and from the companies that make them. So the first company (no matter who) that makes a new model first will get my business . Its getting too expensive to support every company out there.
A little song, A little dance, A little seltzer down your pants!~~~Chuckles the Clown.
They are most likely Borsig RI 502 rocket motors. These were carried by the ME262V10 flight test aircraft but I haven't found any other indication of their use on production airframes.chunks wrote:Your right, they do, guess I was going by location. Whoo...mabbe they're starting to plan ahead after all. Planning to introduce the towed fuel stowage (if that's what I think it is), is a very good sign. Why else tool for such an obscure subject?

Ah, right, thanks for jogging what's left of my memory. I guess my main hope is the planning for rarer varients might also lead to other subjects. 21c's showing these RATO/AA is a good sign for some of these or other AC's more obscure variants to show up. If they're planing for such, mabbe more mainstream subjects might also be on the way some year.Timbo wrote:Well remember, that is a flight test aircraft and according to the caption that is a picture of a towed bomb test. There was some experimentation late in the war with the Me-262B-2a and a towed fule tank but I've only ever seen drawings of it.
WWII era P-80's in Italy or Meteors chasing V-1's are some of what would be most welcome.
Even Mexican Expeditionary Force P-47's in the Philippines or the Brazilian AC in the ETO would be welcome repaints.

The B-1 did Not have 4 3cm Mk 108s, it used 2 2cm cannon as weaponary
edit; both the 3cm and 2cm cannons were used. I've never built a model with the 3cm cannons in a Nj formation.
Red 8 had a full complement of four 30mm MK 108 cannon, but it is believed that some night fighter Me 262s flew with only two cannon to compensate for the extra weight of the radar equipment. The cannon are unfortunately no longer in the aircraft, but all the feeds, spent cartridge chutes and electrical wiring on the rear bulkhead are in place.

bombs, no but drops tanks were common on Nachtjagers.Timbo wrote:The inclusion of bombs on the night fighter version is questionable and I'd be willing to bet they are a result of 21st originally planning to go with a single seater. Regardless, the bombs and the "wikinger-schiff" racks could easily be added to one of the AT 262's.

Good point. The 1/16th armour folks certainty have this option. there are conversion kits for the Brummbar, Jagdtager, JagdPanther, su-85 (thourgh we'd need the T-34 for this),early Tigar 1 with the side bins, and others available to them.Panzer_M wrote:I'm think someone should make conversion kits for the 1:18s, like Verlinden makes for 1:35 models...so we can "fix" stuff on the planes. Since most of us, don't play with the toys but have them as static models, resin parts could be used, and like said earilier rubber tires to replace plastic.

With this model, is 21C steering away from "toys" and easing into more correct models for adults?
I can't see that nose radar display lasting more than a minute out of the box after "Little Johnny" gets his jelly smeared mits on it.
Very nice 21C.
Is Wally gonna carry the plane with the swatwhatever on the tail. AT supplied it as a decal on theirs to be put on or left off by the customer.

I'd hope so!!Threetoughtrucks wrote:With this model, is 21C steering away from "toys" and easing into more correct models for adults?
A poll:
how many of us get this stuff for the kids?
How many for us?

What kids? When people I know show up at my house with kids, I warn them to keep the kids leashed... Too many tempting items for them to grab onto (and too many sharp steel edges hanging on the walls)...
You know, I am actually kind of surprised that all our speculative posts didn't manage to beat the record for number of users at one time... I am looking forward to the 21st Me-262 nightfighter--but an A-10 would have been really sweet too
OK, now to get psyched up for tomorrow--we are forecast for up to a foot of lake effect snow overnight and in the morning... could be time to get the 'Cat out to play!
