We've known about the possibility of BBI British figures for quite some time now. They are mentioned on the BBI website (near the bottom directly above the Sherman tank):

They are sold in the UK, given that they're representing British figures, and they are not avaliable for retail here as far as I know. As you know, your pictures come from a British website. The figures are essentially the same as the BBI Marines and Army Beret figures, albeit different cammo patterns. To me the unorigionally stinks, as British Royal Marines have different uniforms and generally use different weapons than US soldiers!

BBI BRITISH TROOPS

Post by graycap » Sun Jan 09, 2005 1:30 pm

I've seen these figures over here in the UK and believe me they are b****y aweful. They bear no resemblance whatsover to current Britsh soldiers. The uniforms, weapons, helmets are all wrong. In fact all BBI did was take the orginal US models and give them a different paint job.

I think the idea was that they would spearhed Corgi's distribution of BBi's 1/18th range over here. The result was spectacular failure and I think the future distribution of BB 1/18th models by Corgi is under review. Which is a great pity as the F-16, the P-51 and the Sherman really look the business.

Don't try and get hold of them - save your money!!

I honestly thank you for your input.
I'm going to follow your advice. I have too many 1/18 figure repaints as it is.....just let us know if you ever see any other realistic British figures in 1/18, since i would definetely would like to add the Brave Lads to my collection!....especially, some Desert Rats, SAS, SBS, or Royal Marine Commandos.
take care,

well dont the royal marines wear green berets, they could have done that at least with the current molds they have out, but yea i have to agree the uniforms and the weapons are all wrong. would love to see some decent brit figures, from bbi, got the 21st royal marines and turned them into bravo two zero for a future dio idea, but some reg brits would be cool to see.

I bought the heavy machine gunner a month ago at a TRU in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Only one of these that I've seen.

I do not think any or the new BBI figures were widely released,, I remember one of the old GP members saying TRU was throwing a few new guys in with the old seal figures, one or two pilots per case etc,, I have not seen any new BBI at the on-line stores,

and I refuse to use evil-Bay

tomd

PS,, this is a loss on BBI and TRU's parts as I really like some of the new accessories and would have bought 20 or 30 figures just for the weapons and headgear....tom
