FOV 1/72nd SU-122

I don't collect 1/72nd stuff, but I am a fan of Soviet WWII armor, and considering that there is an almost a complete lack of any Russian tanks (or vehicles for that matter) available in 1/32nd scale, I could not resist picking up this FOV 1/72nd SU-122 assault gun. In spite of it's diminutive size, the level of detail, painting and weathering is quite impressive in my opinion. At any rate, for about $8 ea. you really can't go wrong, what do you guys think? very nice looking little model. That camouflage scheme cracks me up. The fine green little branches to make it blend into a wooded area rather seem pointless when you consider the great big bright red numbers...

I found some of those a few weeks back at Target. When the Su-122 was first out at some small retailers, I didn't order it, but upon seeing it at Target, couldn't help but not to get it

FOV did a nice job with this tank and it is quite well detailed; the commander figure is also a nice touch! Overall, I've been quite impressed with most of the FOV 1:72 armor pieces, espeically the newest wave. If you haven't gotten the 1:72 Stuka zu Fuss, M3 Halftrack, and T-34, you need to

Indeed.... I really doubt that this is an "authentic" scheme, at least with regard to the branches, the Soviets were not big on a large variety of camo paintjobs on their tanks to begin with, and nowhere near that of the Germans, the Red Army had basically two paintschemes...green for summer and white for winter, if they even bothered to whitewash the vehicles at all in winter, sometimes they did, sometimes not, but it was by no means automatic.

Real scheme. I thought it was weird too until someone posted a pic on another forum of a column of maybe 6 su-122s in this exact same cammo.

I also found pictures in a book I have on Soviet Armor that show this scheme. Nice
looking tank. I'll have to get a few of these if they ever show up in my area.

You can always repaint it if you don't like the current paint scheme. Below are some pictures of a repainted 1/72 Forces of Valor SU-122. After it was repainted in Russian green, a little weathering (mud, dirt) was added to give it a bit more realism. The tank commander was replaced as well.

Looks cool, Now that they have 1/72 Russian armor maybe they will come up with 1/72 russian infantry.

Has anyone seen both Enthusiast and Action models of the SU-122? Is there an appreciable difference?

I have both and there's just a little more weathering on the enthusiast series version over the action series version.
