blu-32

Post by aferguson » Sat Nov 04, 2006 11:23 am

No, it's not part of a football cadence. I need to make a couple of blu-32 napalm cannisters for my Smoke II F-104. Here's what they look like:

Needs to be a little over 6 inches long and 3/4 of an inch in diameter, or slightly fatter.

Any ideas?

Looks like a couple of the fat plastic pen barrels would work! Glue them end to end and then detail the plate and caps!

the original link works fine for me..

anyway, what would be perfect is simply cutting down the wingtip tanks of the f-104 itself. They're the right shape and diameter (for the similar but slightly larger blu-27 napalm canister), just too long. The problem is of course i need the wingtip tanks to put on the wingtips. :?

found something. A couple of make up applicators...for eye lashes. The shape is pretty good. Size wise i thought they were too small until i found out that there was a blu-10 napalm canister, 250lb class and these eye lash thingys are the perfect size. So my Vietnam F-104 is all set for a strike mission. 8)

If anyone wants to read a good article on the Starfighter in Vietnam here:

and a couple of nice pics of aVietnam F-104 taxiing in after a strike mission:

BLU-32 Canisters

Aferg

Try looking at buying a small piece of PVC pipe at Home Depot-I think they should have something at or close to 3/4" diameter. You can also check out anything in the Girls Cosmetics Aisle and even a place called "Storables" (not sure if they have it in Canada) but they sell kitchy stuff like spray bottles, canisters, containers. Try checking out a "Dollar Store" for Dual Use items. For the ends try using Estes Plastic Rocket Nose Cones.
