The scheme looks better in person and is quite striking, but I'm happy with my S1 "red nose" Mig not to warrant a second purchase. Faith for the stores in my area just jumped up a notch :D
First I've heard of that version being out.

Yup, that's the first in store sighting :D And good to see it was Tman who found them or we'd be hearing from him :P

Well, I wasn't worried about getting a Mig per se - since a fellowboard member sent me one back when they first came out. I was worried about the fact that none of the stores in my area (and state) were seeing them, partly as a gague for determining what, if any new 1:18 would head my way. Guess the wait is over on the Mig and that there is some hope for getting future releases :D

Now, if only the Avengers would make a better showing in my AO than just the one that I found :P

Sabre & MIG spotted

Post by coreystinson » Sun Oct 15, 2006 2:54 am

I thought I would report that here in St. Charles, Missouri I have spotted both the MIG and the Sabre at one of the local Wal-marts (the one that usually gets the 21st Century stuff), which is on Highway 94 South & Jungermann Rd. I believe they were priced at $39.99 each.

Found!

Post by Folkwulfe » Mon Oct 16, 2006 2:02 pm

Finally, I've found a local WM that seems to be carrying the newer stuff. They had five of the red-nosed "925" MiGs on the shelf....but not any more. There are still a couple there...and they anticipate the Sabres any day (store toys manager is a very nice person).
Only complaint I can make is the elevators are weak from the outter hinge to the tip. After assembly, I put it in the back seat of my car (wheels down). While taking a turn, the elevator hit the inner door panel and cracked along where the hinge is, but it's easy to fix. Careful of the tail feathers guys!

Yes! It was at the store near the intersection of Shaw and Brawley, about two miles east of Freeway 99. Coming south on the 99 from Sacramento (where you said you'd be in another post) it will be about a 2.5-3 hr drive at the most. The store had two Migs left when I was last there this past Saturday, as I had purchased two to send to a couple boardmembers. In all liklihood, they are still there, though there's no telling how fast this scheme will move...

This store currently has one of the best XD selections in my town. In 1:18 there are the Migs, Desert Stukas, BH Corsairs, a few ME-109Gs, a couple RC tanks, along with a M151 Mutt and some figures, mostly BoB. In 32x there are the Iron Horse & Dogfight packs, playsets, Panzer IVDs, Brumbars, & Stugs, as well as a couple Corsairs & Stukas. There were a couple 1:48 planes, 1:144 tanks, and 1:6 weapons packs as well.

Hope this helps!

BTW, if you by chance make it to that store and see the new 1:18 halftracks, LEAVE THEM THERE and let me know you found them

interesting to note that the mig 15's are still selling for good money on ebay. Really, they're doing better than the avengers ever did. After about a month i was able to get an avenger for about WM retail price but the Migs are still selling for well over that.....in the mid sixties usually. That may be a reflection of the higher price tag for the avenger, it may not.

Very promising, as this may encourage other aircraft of this type in future...'this type' being those other than the the obvious US and German fighters.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I think you are right on the Migs selling well, Aferg. In my small example, I came across four of the Chinese Migs in my area - by surprise - exactly a week ago. I already have a North Korean Mig and didn't care for the Chinese scheme, but I did purchase two to send to a couple other boardmembers, leaving two behind. Then and third member inquired about a Mig later in the week and I went back on Friday to find his Mig, expecting that they would still be there. The other two planes had disappeared! I was actually surprised by that, given the odd paintscheme and the fact that all the other planes that had been there last week (Corsairs, Stukas, ME-109Gs) were still there. Nonetheless, its good to see an aircraft sell!

For all the board members in Florida...

There is an e-bay listing for a MIG-15 which shows the sellers location as Orlando, FL.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Ultimate-Soldier-1- ... dZViewItem

Perhaps the seller bought this in the Central Florida area.

If you are in the Orlando area you might want to turn the radar on, set your course for Wal-Mart and go MIG hunting. :D

Also found a case of Mig-15s (North Korean) in the Lithia Springs, GA (Atlanta area) Wal-Mart today. Nothing else new.

Found about six or seven of the North Korean MiGs at the Spring Creek/635 WalMart in Dallas (couple of miles south of Spring Valley/635 where the were reported earlier). Nothing on the new tiger stripe version in DFW yet.

I had this in the general recon thread, so I thought I would put it here as well.

I found Migs at the Bellbrook, Oh Wal-Mart (the one off of Wilmington Pike) There were 4, make that 3 now, of the 925 livery left.

well, that puts a damper on my trip down to Fresno! I have been looking here Sacramento area for the past two days and no new Tiger Migs! I am planning on today and tomorrow morning hitting the WMs on I-5/99 from Sacramento to Modesto before I leave Calf in the hope of finding this new paint scheme.

Yeah, the two Migs that were left in my AO sold quickly, which surprised me as aircraft (or at least the ME-109Gs) don't tend to move at all. In another thread, boardmember MK noted that he found two Migs at the Wal Mart in Turlock last week. That is much closer to the area you're visiting than is Fresno, so if its not too far off you route, you may want to check that store out! The new armor has shown up in the Fresno area, however. I think the pieces that were in the town itself were nabbed by that ebay seller as he aparently has them and I never saw them in town. I find the new armor at the Selma Wal Mart, 10 mi south of Fresno 8)

I put the Russian one on preorder. I have yet to see any new stuff in the south brevard, indian river, pt st lucie and martin counties. A few have the TBMs sitting now.

North Brevard is actually out of my way 30-40 miles so I have no idea about those stores...

YOU ARE THE MAN!! I found only ONE Tiger Mig at the Turlock WM!!!!!! I bought it and a 1/32 Corsair S4 and stuffed it in my dufflebag for my return trip back to Dallas today. I stopped a serveral WM on I-5/99 in between Turlock and Sacarmento and found no new armor in Turlock, Modesto, Ceres or Stockton. I found 13 new Corsairs/Stukas 1/32 in Stockton and in Ceres they had 2 1/32 snake Stukas.
As I mentioned earlier Northern Calf did not have any Migs. It appears that they are being stocked South of Turlock but are not consistent. It was such a rush to pull it off the shelf, hear the 'ding' at the check-out counter and pull the dufflebag zipper close knowing that I got one of these bad boys!
Once again thanks tmanthegreat for the recon info I owe you a solid!

No problem! Glad your trip was successful! You may want to also thank MK as he is the one who actually spotted the Migs - I only relayed what he said. Its cool that you're finding the 32x snake stukas - Tomorrow I am going out to look for them in my area. They should feasably be at one of my stores, given that they have been found in both northern and souther california by now, but then again...

Well I had to go to Okeechobee to work on a machine, and while I'm there, I decide to vist the Walmart.

And behold 4 new shiny MIGs in NK paint, so I feverishly hunt around for any new 1/18 vehicles and nope...nada:(

This is a super nice plane, the cockpit looks just like one of the "Wings over Russia" TV shows COOL!

Just think what 21C has done...they can never go back now on features and quality. What once was a bonus or extra feature is now going to be expected as standard. Better for all of us!
