Well, as for not checking, some people might actually want to be telling the truth when they re-sell an item as factory sealed/NRFB. Go figure.

I think from now on I will check what I buy before I leave Wal-Mart from now on. or any aircraft I buy on ebay. I had a problem with a Side Show item, but the seller took care of it for me. I think most people are honest and will do what ever it takes to make it right.

I think noting would burn my butt more then buying something and finding out that’s not what you got. Then you try to take it back and you have to prove your innocence.

The basic rule of thumb is that certain discussions shouldnt happen in mixed company. They are, in a nutshell, religion, unions and politics. Once you open up any of these three topics, especially on a dedicated topic forum, people will start to get hot, no matter what side of the fence they are on. Who you voted for or didnt vote for does not have any bearing on what this forum is about. Once a person broaches a subject and starts expousing personal opinions about unrelated matters, the respect level for that person drops along with the quality of the experience at this forum. If one decides to take a risk and "brag" about a certain act that many on the forum may see as detrimental, that person should be prepared to take heat for it in a dignified way. Yes, the phrase is "get over it". The best way to "get over it" is to not start with it in the first place. This is strictly my opinion based on past personal experience.

Replacement wing has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by billgiff » Wed Jul 19, 2006 1:18 pm

I just wanted to post a follow up to my BBI "MD" wing problem. BBI has came through and sent out my replacement wing which arrived today. Along with the wing was a nice letter thanking me for the purchase, support and understanding. The letter also reads" PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOW INTRODUCING NEW FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES EVERY MONTH" I hope that is true. I personally would like to thank AFERG and Mike (at BBI) for there help with the situation. This reassures to me that the Customer Relations at BBI really cares and that the system does works. :D :D :D :D

GOOD NEWS Bill! That is some top notch customer service I must say.

And new figures every month would be unreal...I don't know if my heart or wallet could handle it but I'm ready to give it a shot! :D

G'day All

I have admired the 1/18th Corsair models for some time, in fact it was upon seeing my first 21stCT Corsair while on an over seas trip that I decided to start this 1/18th collection disorder.

After getting enthused by the Hellcat thread and checking all the related topics on the forum including this one I finally decided to go out a get myself a Marine Dreams.

After two days of waiting, the shop finally got hold of two and after some what I thought was to be some careful inspecting of both, I picked the one which had the best paint job and spirited it home (the other example had some obvious hand brushed touch-ups and some unsightly glue smears).

I then waited until everyone else (wife and kids) were in bed so I could enjoy the sacred ritual of the untwisting the ties (well sacred snipping of at least) in peace.....................

Only to discover that no not two of the same wing but one of the same wing............... that’s right only one wing.

I searched the box the floor the box the floor the box the packing the box the packing the floor and just for good measure the box, floor and packing one last time, but still no wing.

I am now may I say more than a little miffed, after waiting so long to finally get a Corsair and this what I get, what a let down.

I now have to call the shop back tomorrow and hope I can get them to give me a replacement wing out of the other box and then hope they don’t just suggest that we swap the whole plane over and then hope that the paint ops of the wing from the other box is better than that the fuselage.

I’m off to bed myself now, all depressed the excitement of the evening now simply dashed.

I will let you know how things turn out.

Not on a soapbox here, just a keyboard but I've returned items to walmart and there is an option available that won't hurt anyone else. When you take it back, don't offer anything that might allow them to put it back on the shelf. When they ask you what's wrong, tell them that it's broken. When I returned my Avenger I indicated that it was. Knowing that this is an $70 product I asked what is done in that case and they indicated that it's sent back to the manufacturer. There were indeed problems with the plane and so no one was hurt.

For those of you that do the switch, my only hope is that you too experience the joy of opening what you know to be a great model only to find out you've been screwed. What's funny here is that WHEN it happens to you that you have the effin' nerve to be upset. People like you usually do regardless of whether you've affected others in the same way.

Now I'm winging it

Post by Spudkopf » Wed Oct 18, 2006 8:13 pm

G'day All

I just got back from the shop where I purchased the Corsair yesterday and the news is all good thus far, as they kindly agreed to let me have the wing out of the other aircraft that was in stock to replace the one missing in mine, letting me keep the one with the better paint job and returning the other one to the importer for a credit return.

I’m not certain but it also looked to me (not that I had a good look) a little like the other model may have only had one of the two horizontal stabilisers, if so and I had just gone for a straight exchange I may have been further disappointed.

Anyway the Corsair is now safely tucked away in the boot (trunk) of my car ready for a take-2 assembly session later this evening.

As far the debate (tpa05) regarding swapping and returning, I personally do not think I could bring myself to do such a thing.

I only wish our large retailers that would stock these products to start with.

Spudkopf,

Glad you got the wings right.

FYI the Corsair used the same horizontal stabilizer for port and starboard, just flipped over and painted the opposite of the other.
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

billgiff,

I'm glad things worked out for you with the BBI Corsair Marines Dream. Its a beauty and its a freak thing when things happen like they did to you buddy. But at least everything worked out in the end and you got the correct wing.
