Got my first plane
Got my first plane
A couple of months ago Centwoggle posted up he was selling oiff his WW2 aircraft on eBay. I managed to buy a couple as it was a huge auction
2 months later, today I got 'em.
I got a FW 109 with the candy striped under carriage and a night Corsair with the checker board pattern.
I had no idea these planes were so huge as i've only ever collected figures and I still have vehicles. I'm so overjoyed with these right now, I can't believe i didn't get one sooner.

Congrats bird! This is how it starts - I used to just buy figures and vehicles with the occassional AC but now I find myself with a pretty large collection of birds and seriously into all the new releases. Hope you have the space, I know I sure don't!

You're not a virgin anymore!
I bought my first one a year ago. NOW I HAVE 17 OF THEM! Of course they're all my 3 year old's.............John

Now what on earth is a 3 year old supposed to do with 17 planes as big as they are? lol
At least you have a kid to pin them on.
Congrats on the new warplanes Bird.

Congrats on the new warplanes Bird.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

To both flpickupman and jbell, yah got me chucklin' fer sure. I "blame" my 4 (almost five) year old on "his" love of airplanes. "He" now has 6.
And counting
The only reason his air force hasn't grown is I haven't found any of the Migs or Sabres here in Tampa. Now that BBI has somethin' new in the works it's kinda wait and see. If there's any hint that a phantom is in the works then its money saved for what will be (at least) a new squadron for sure. It'll be at least one in each paint scheme and more for me and my spray gun to put together. Hell, even in only one paint scheme I figure I can change the Modex numbers as well as the names of the pilot/rio, add a little "weathering" to each and I've got an aircraft carrier (bedroom) full of jets. Ditto given an Air Force scenario.
I think the hint that you've gone to far (and I'm there already) is when you start spending a lot of time thinking of ways to begin hanging the ones you already have on the ceiling (this is of course unless your original intention was to put them up there in the first place). You've played around with the ones you already have (yea, I said played - go ahead and admit it) and now you're looking for more. You can't get rid of the "old ones" as you've become too attached but you can't help but hit the stores and websites looking for more.
So if an inordinate amount of time is now being spent thinking about how you're gonna connect the fishing wire, where yer gonna attach the hooks to the ceiling and in what attitude the aircraft is gonna fly once its up there then it's time to admit you've got a problem.
I do and I love it.

The FW-190 and Corsair are great planes, but wait untill you see the F-104 or the TBF Avengerbird wrote:A couple of months ago Centwoggle posted up he was selling oiff his WW2 aircraft on eBay. I managed to buy a couple as it was a huge auction

I've found out that it's a bit easier to just go buy this stuff then ask for forgiveness...than it is to ask for permission...tpa05 wrote:Yea, I forgot to include the fact that these were all bought within the past 6 months. One plane a month. Add to this the BBI/21c/PTE figures, vehicles and accessories I think I may indeed have a problem. If anyone's got any suggestions on how they sell this to their wife I'm all ears.

Congrats bird on your first plane. There will be many more to follow I'm sure. Plus you will have many empty wallet days as well with whats on the market. Plenty of cool looking planes from 3 great companies to choose from, those being Admiral, 21st and BBI.
