That's a good question MM on the arm swaping issue.

i really dont want to be a whiner or complainer here but i honestly am not impressed yet.
the 2 previous germans are the only 2 i will probably get so far.
for me im not an army builder and for the most part i pose them in pretty basic relaxed poses.
so i dont care about the articulation i dont really care about the accessories that much, i just want a good looking well sculpted figure.
i actually prefer the series 1 figures so far.
i know everyone else thinks that have bad articulation or whatever, but to me they all look like different people with alot of the accessories already attached.
these new ones just look to bland to me, they all look the same.
as much as i love soldier figures after a while a bunch of figures posed in the same greens and browns just all blend in together to much.
its like the series 1 paratroopers all looked different but the market garden guys all look just the same to me, the marines all look the same to me the most of the japanese guys all look the same to me.
but of course i dont collect military stuff, i just collect 3 3/4 action figures so i guess im in a very small minority here.
but these new ones just arent wowing me, on the other hand i love the 2 new mig pilots.

I'm excited myself about all these new figures... I've been pretty pleased with them for the most part despite a little flaw here and there (the jackboots, as it was pointed out to me, being not quite right for this point in the war and things). I like the extra coats w/arms, though I'm wondering how I can BS them wearing sub/Italian jackets in Normandy? :)

They look cool though, without a doubt. I'm already planning to use extras on SW customs.

The last guy (Driver/Radio dude) is ok, and I like the effort for a spectacled trooper, but I'm not a big fan of ANY figure with a molded-on hat. That's disappointing because, at this point, one would think that 21st woudl realize the jeep capped guys haven't done well, and they really are less useful for combat set-ups. If that's his only real flaw though, that's a big plus. :)

The Germans have all made me happy. Great army building there... I'm geeked on most of the US guys too though this last one is the only one I'm sure I'll buy less of.

I'm excited tos ee the rest of the gang... I think some would only be happy for different theaters all together or other nationalities, and that's understandable because it's been mostly German and US to this point. I'd like to see some Normandy Brits myself, and others, but for now I'm ok with this.

I'm assuming we'll see some N. Africa U.S. at the least at some point, maybe some NA Brits and others will follow. It'd be welcome of course since we're getting Afrika Korps guys.

Well, I like the array of gear. He is loaded for bear. The googles on Danny look to be sandy weather googles or they would fit for a motorcycle dispatch rider too. He would actually fit in to oppose the DAK troops because the 82nd saw its first action in N. Africa. Gear was pretty much the same up to Normandy so he works in those regards. Though, his head looks like the guy on the old test shots of the DAK from a TF long, long ago. Just the same, I will buy him, but not in army builder quantities.

I think TKO has hinted that there will not be any PTO in this run of 18.

I hear you newwavepop
I likw the S1 figures best also. Especially the MG-42, Panzer Grenadier, US Officer and BAR figures but my favorite figure is the P-51 pilot. I like the new figures but my favorites are still like the “classics”

new guys

Newwave I think you should get the Dragon guys if you don't care about articulation. For just static poses they are the best.
I'm with JJ in hoping this guy can fit a helmet on his head over the hat. I have plenty of helmets from OMG, etc..so not getting one is fine when you consider all the other goodies he has. I would head swap him to death but with the hat it limits where he can go. I think his Carbine is sweet and like MM I also wonder about the arms - that should be interesting.

I think we have to remember that these new figs are only partially for us who mostly have a ton of the S1 & Paras. Those early figs were never really in WM (only as pack-ins) so this is really a chance for people who missed those to get ETO infantry and D-day paras. I can see how if you have a nice collection already these are less exciting than to someone who just discovered this stuff at Wally. I have been begging for Brits/Russians for years but I can see these releases are "safer" - like a Corsair or a P-51 update, they sort of had to be done.

My favorite XD figures so far are the Paratroopers/Fallschirmjäger. These guys were so detailed, super articulated, nicely painted and loaded with equipment - I love them!
I think the new figures are cool, but for me the Paratroopers were better. I'd like to see something really new. New weapons, new uniforms etc.
This latest US Driver is okay, but I think the headsculpt sucks.

"they would fit for a motorcycle dispatch rider too"

Agreed. If there's an easy way to file off his hat then "Goggles" would make a solid headswap for a lot of the german troops. :D

"we have to remember that these new figs are only partially for us"

Great point!

Oh and as far as whining, keep in mind that posts only convey the tone in which you "read" it and not necessarily the tone in which it was typed by the author. Emoticons only go so far to address that. :)

It's really hard to point out flaws, be critical, challenge the status quo, ask good questions, etc.. without "sounding" like you're whining. It has to be done or that feedback will never emerge, the product won't evolve, etc..

If the folks at 21C didn't want feedback, they wouldn't be reading this thread. (Hi Roy) ;-)

since i just display my figures articulation is not overly important to me and i prefer good sculpts to articulation. I have no problem at all with the S1 figures.

That said often i like to display my figures in action poses and that is where articulation comes in handy, as it is easier to 'massage' a well articulated figure into a tricky pose than a less well articulated figure...there is less cutting and chopping needed with well articulated figures.

For example, at the moment i am doing a Javelin team firing a missile. The gunner is in a cross legged, seated pose (a common position for firing this weapon). I used a couple of PTE guys for this piece. While the sculpt quality is not great their articulation made the poses possible. A guy sitting cross legged would be all but impossible with any of the 21c or BBI figures available but it was just a few snips and chops to get the PTE guy to sit that way...

The Dragon figures are well done but have limited use because of their frozen bodies. The crouching guys are great though for gun crews and any other time you want to have a figure in a deep crouch.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Gotta say I like the Bulge guys best so far. I just want more Germans, lots of Germans. :P

Off topic but will we ever see a wheeled 1:18 pak-40 from 21st? I know there is one mounted on a Hanomag.

I like all the accessories that come with the new 82nd AB driver figure, and he will go properly with the 21c S1 Jeep, as that has markings for the said division. The goggles just look a little wierd to me... All in all, I wish 21c would have gone a seperate route from making more US paratroopers and given us some Brits or Russians for a change! Keep the Germans coming, however!

Very cool! The Bazooka and rockets look much more sturdy than the BBI ones and with colors to boot. :)

How many new figures are coming? I thought there were 12. Are there more than that?

That new guy is Bruce Freakin Willis. I like all the gear. But, he is a knock off of Bruce Willis from Hart's War.

I thought the same thing. BBI already has a Bruce look-alike, so 21st is copying them now?

This figure is what I'm talking about for US troops. A regular grunt, not a para or specialty guy.
