Chap Mei weapon slings/straps for 1:18

Post by digger » Mon Oct 02, 2006 12:24 pm

Finally a source of some decent means for your soldiers to carry their weapons. I was cleaning house and found a box of Chap Mei Soldier Force weapons that are way too big for our purposes and I never threw out when buying fodder over the years. I realized I could remove the rubber straps attached to some of the weapons and easily attatch them (thanks to a very elastic loop on each end) to my 1:18 weapons. The appearance of the rubber is a bit crude but I have been desparate for an easy/sturdy answer to one of the biggest deficiencies in this scale. You wind up with a little loop around the ends of the gun instead of attachments where they should be but the result is not bad. So if you ever buy the cheapo Chap Mei stuff don't chuck the weapons too soon. :D

they also make another kind of strap that is dark brown and more scale in appearance that i've been using for years. You have to glue it to the gun but it looks quite good. Unfortunately i've pretty much run out of them and can't find the figures that had the straps any more.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Way to go! That is exactly what I did with all of my extra Chap-Mei weapons. Bye bye big guns, but the straps stay. :)
