1/144th Panzer Tank Dio

Post by warhawker » Fri Sep 22, 2006 6:59 am

I wanted to share one of my little projects that I am working on. Over the last two weeks, I have been working on a 1/144th tank dio using the 1/144 tanks that I picked up at WM for $.50 each! It consists of two KingTigers and one ambush Panther. I need to finish the edging near the frame and additional weathers as well. What you see on the KingTigers is the start of camo netting that will cover them. As well I would like to add some figures/tents/boxes to this but currently I only have N scale figures that I am thinking about adding and not sure if they will fit with the scale of the tanks.
Thoughts?

I like it! There's a surprising amount of troops/buildings/accessories out there for 144th. I was tempted myself to explore this scale more thoroughly. Combat Group Dynamix has some really good stuff.

There we go! Some small-scale dios!

I would go ahead and add some N-scale figures. 1/160 compared to 1/144 isn't too bad, and if they're too short - you won't be able to notice as they're hiding in the foxholes

Very cool, I'd been waiting for someone to try that with the 21C armor. Nice work! :D

As for the 144 infantry, I already have enough stuff getting lost in the carpet.

It's one thing to lose the occasional grenade or rifle, but it would break my heart to "hear" an entire platoon get flushed out of cover and then sucked right into the vacuum cleaner...

Thanks for the comments & link! I bought some N scale railroad crew that I am re-painting into panzer grey/black uniforms and I will place them over or around the tanks to give the entire scene look as a 'day- in-the-life-of-panzer-unit'. I should have the final photos up by the end of the week.
